I have been watching the Chinese $200 + blade market explode in the last few years , kaizer, We, reate, etc...... they have really nice designs , quality materials and workmanship

Buuuuuuut they are made in China, profits go to China. From state sponsored corporate espionage to pollution to human rights violations and the biggest reason - ITS NOT AMERICA!!

No matter how good the value, design or what ever , I just can’t buy a mid range or higher knife made in china. To me it just doesn’t feel right buying a knife at that cost from there. Especially at what I consider mid range pricing 200$.

Yes I own a iPhone and a TV that was made in China  , would I buy a 15$ Kershaw beater still , yes.

I try to buy as much as possible from US manufacturers. At this point knives are a luxury to me because I really have all I need. I tend to save up for US manufactured knifes, boots, whatever I can. Full disclosure though a few years ago Ford made me mad announcing the move from the US to Mexico (though it never happened) and in my moment of weakness I bought a German car. I do still own American cars as well though.
I also believe that there are a few products that are unavoidably from China i.e. phones, computers, most TV’s etc. 11FD7E2D-56A5-44BC-A2B6-26BAB07F20FD.jpeg

As far as my knives I try to stay with US manufactured.

I would rather buy US made items, because I want to support our manufacturing base. But, I am happy to see these high end Chinese knives. They are a great value and they obviously rely on a heavy use of CNC technology. This is a good thing, for us, because it demonstrates that world class knives can be produced through technology, that such product need not chase the lowest labor costs, and that they can be produced here once our makers embrace and invest in these manufacturing techniques.

China (or any specific country) bashing is not allowed on BF. I buy the best knife I can based on what I know. Country of Origin is part of the decision making information that I use. So, I buy the knife that suits my current need or whim the best regardless of country of origin. Does country matter to me? Yes, but not to the point of excluding a knife based on where it was made.

(Rubs face) Not this again.

Knife very very bad! $$

There is no iPhone made in America, thus it is the only choice. I don’t think there is any cell phone made in America.

Just a personal choice of if I’m going to spend 200$ It’s going to be American, The odds are they (maker or manufacturer) live in a state I have been to, driven by or know some one in are high. I call it the cousin theory - I’m supporting my cousin, your cousin, or your cousins cousin.
