Do you carry a knife in the gym?

I was just reading a thread where a BF member speculated that he had bent his knife while weight training. Now, I understand why people might want to carry a knife while out jogging, but in the gym? I don't even wear my wedding ring, let alone carry a knife, when I'm lifting weights.

I know there are some of you out there who carry 24/7. So here's my question: If you engage in some sort of gym-setting type exercise, e.g., weightlifting/bodybuilding, do you carry a knife while exercising? Or do you leave in your locker/car/etc.?

I have left my knife in my pocket on accident a few times while at the gym. But my usual carries are light and I didn't notice them. I usually leave it in the locker, I can't see a need for a blade at the gym! Unless it's the weight pile in prison or something

I do! An Endura IWB by my right kidney. On occasion I will keep my Vaquero Grande in my fannypack (with my Walkman), and wear the fannypack the whole time I'm there. My gym is only a 5 minute walk from home, but the walk includes a shortcut through an alley. At dusk, the alley gets fairly dark because it's unlit.

Squid - You must not do bench presses. I would think knivesin the kidney position would kill you if you did.

I do carry, suually my Sebenza in my pocket, or if I have none a Spydie in the waistband. I carry neck knives or anything else well.

I carry a small cheap gerber ultralight with a clothing clip. I clip it on my shorts and forget about it. I do clean, snatch, bench, push, etc. and it never gets in the way or bothers me.

I carry a BM 710 clipped in the waist of my shorts while I lift and run. It doesn't get in the way at all. Never know what might happen, anytime at any place.

IWB Endura for me too, but I take it out if I'm playing ball. I agree with Toastmaster, it's the UNexpected you have to watch out for.

I carry a BM 830 clipped in the left side of whatever shorts I am wearing. It does not interfere in anyway and it is hidden under my shirt. You gotta have one...just in case someone freaks out with 'roid rage

Well,I don't hit the gym like I used to, but when I do, I carry whatever is on my key chain. i don't lock the keys in with my wallet. I have my heart rate monitor on the key chain (and chest strap) so it makes sense... used to have it as a "watch" but it was a pain to look at.... now I can leave it easily on or near the machines... I have used it quite a few times... tape, wires, etc... nobody else seems to have a knife handy!

Orange pre 98 Rescue inside the zippered pocket of my gym pants. I don't need it in the gym. It's for for "just in case" while going to and from the gym.

I leave knives in the locker at the gym, along with all my other stuff; the only thing I carry is a water bottle.

Hey, i just started a topic just by answering a question on another topic...

My thinking is that if i ever need my knife it'll be when i don't have it, solution...ALWAYS carry!

I carry neck knives on the rare occasions when I work out. Reasons: I am doing a review of small fixed blades and what better place to see how confortable a neck knife will perform, and if people will notice it under a t-shirt, especially in a place where people tend to look one another over mnore frequently. The second reason is more pragmatic...I am a firm believer in carrying a knife at all times because one never know when and how it may come in handy. I am a peaceful guy, so I don't worry about protecting myself, nor am I stupid enough to think that I could do so with a knife unless I was really seriously at my last stand and had a ton of adrenaline pumping me up, but if the difference between helping someone is because I have a knife and not helping them because I wasn't, then that's enough for me (did that make any sense?).

I usually carry mine in the gym because my workout clothes have pocket and I wear those same clothes home and then shower. It just makes sense to leave my stuff in my pockets, furthermore, I usually don't carry anything big (over 3") to the gym because I'm coming straight from work when I get there. It doesn't get in the way and because of clips, it never falls out.

I carry my mini stryker everyday, the gym is no exception. I just clip it to the waistband of my shorts. The only time I even feel it is doing bicep curls with an ez curl bar

i carry at the gym but it is getting harder to do it because i have idiots at my school that see the knife and go "HEY IS THAT A SPYDERCO??!!!?!?!?!!?!?"

sometimes it makes you want to give free kali lessons. knives are a NO NO on campus and i hope these idiots would learn the meaning of discretion.
oh freshman, sometimes ya just really want to squash them ...
at least they know what a spyderco is.

I take my folders in with me. Where I go, they're technically considered tools, not weapons. But yeah, I do try to be as discrete as possible. My folders are clipped to the side. They're not a problem when bench-pressing. They're not a problem when running. Actually, they're not a problem when I decide to go swimming either.

I have a SAK Spartan in my gym bag. I think I tossed it in there a couple of months ago. I found it last night; it was full of chalk and other crud.

I caeey a Spyderco Q all the time mostly IWB or attached to my sneaker.
