I've been a Buck guy for a while. I haven't been here on the forum in quite some time. I have a few other maker customs which I carry and use once in a while since I'm not a safe queen guy.

I have a few custom Buck 100s from DS, EA and most recently picked up two Leroy Remers. I carry a custom The 55 with stag from the Custom shop in my pocket every day and usually a Cabelas Alaskan Guide 110 on my belt. I recently gave away one of my more favorite Don Seals to a teenage senior in high school who I hunt with. One of the most polite great kids I know.

My two Remers should be here in a couple days and I can't wait to have them in hand. I plan to carry them and use, not abuse, them. Just curious how many of you carry and use your customs?

Thanks!

Mike

Don't really have any custom Bucks except for two 110 from the custom shop and I do carry one of those.

I don't have a Custom shop model but I do have some very Limited Editions (like one of a kind) which I do carry and use on occasion. DM

I do not use any of my 40+ buck knifes.I use a alternative brand for opening mail boxes etc thats it

I do use some, but have many I do not use. No particular reason why I use one over the other except I do not use any with mirror finish blades or any that have an etched scene on them.

I have a Sambar Stag 110 and a smooth buffalo 110 that I often carry and use.

Yes, I don't carry or use any with a gold etched blade but mostly everything else in 110, 112 and Duke I will. DM

The title of your thread did not match your thread content. The thread title is asking if we use our collectable Buck knives. The thread content is talking about custom made buck knives.....I view them totally different.....but, that's just me:rolleyes:.

I don't use any of the Buck knives I have in my collection. I do use my non-collectable Buck knives and some of these were made in the Buck custom shop for me to be users. I guess what I am saying is I get some knives to be users and some as collectable's and never the two shall meet;). So, what I'm saying is when I get a knife, it has a specific purpose at the time I get it. It's for using or for the collection period.

I collect 110s. I do use some 110s. Some that I use are regular factory production (including BP, AG) and a few from the custom shop. I also have a Leroy Remer skinner that as you said, I have used, but not abused.
I do not use any that are part of my collection. Except maybe one....

Custom or Collector is the same in my mind. If you only buy stock Walmart Buck 110's and you buy lots of them, then you collect them. Do you use them or put them all in a safe? If you only buy from Bucks Custom Shop or after the fact customizers do you buy them to collect or to use?

I guess I just don't have the collector/safe queen dna. I enjoy nice things but just can't see letting them sit on a shelf only to be taken out and admired once in a while. But hey, it takes all kinds. While these customs were made to look at and enjoy the great craftsmanship that goes into them, I feel they look even better in the hand getting some use and most makers I've talked with feel the same way. Bob Loveless once said that folks were nuts for paying insane amounts of money for his blades. He viewed them as cutting and gutting tools. :)
