I'm thinking about get a UG and just using the heck out of it. I know there's other people out there that've done this. How's your Unique look after you put some miles on it? I'd love to see some pics. Thanks!
Edit: CGGs are welcome as well.

I don't see any problem with a UG user. Is it going to show some wear, yes, but that will create a beauty of it's own. My CGG (not UG but same concept) only gets carried occasionally. It is patriotic themed Stars & Stripes , so I carry it on appropriate days-just how I do the rotation, not to protect it.

Hey Pete, how has graphic held up? Does the more polished surface just get scratched like crazy?

I am not the best to answer that, but I have heard they hold up very well. My knives during carry are fairly protected in the front cargo pocket of cargo shorts with nothing else in with them. While I get some slight rub wear it is the clip that gets the most abuse.

I was under the impression that except for the wood inlays the UG/CGG, regulars and Micarta inlays can be refurbished via the "spa".

Knowing that I would feel comfortable in carrying it as a user knowing that CRK can clean them up (maybe not back to factory new) nicely.

Thanks Iron, I wasn't aware of that. I thought they couldn't refinish the polished handles for some reason. Does anyone know if they'd replace a lost or damaged cabochon? Probably not free I imagine but do they do it at all?

Just got a ug about a month ago. So far I haven't carried/used it as much as I would have hoped. I have been traveling for on and off the past 3 weeks but that is about to end so it will get fired up here quick.

Yes the ugs may be refurbished. To refurbish the ug anodizing you will be charged a 30$ fee. You may not refurbish inlayed models except for micarta

My EDC's. And yes, they do get used. I need to send at least the large to TLE Sharp to get a decent edge put back on it, as I've beat it up a bit beyong my sharpening abilities.

I don't have any pics to show how rough and dirty the large looks right now, but Chris would be proud and most of you would cringe.

It looks like they wear very nicely! I have a couple of UG but they get carried in pouches so don't have anything close to the wear you have on yours...

Good stuff Wolfe! How are the stones holding up?

The Citrine has scuffs that are readily visible with a loupe. It's a fairly soft stone. The diamond (added by me) is....well... a diamond. Plus it sits almost even with the surface, instead of protruding like the Citrine does.

UG and CGG are my favorites. That's pretty much all I carry. They scuff up but still look beautiful.

To answer your subject line - No and Yes. No, I cannot bring myself to use them and yes you can see them. I just cannot bring myself to use "beautiful" knives...

A CgG Umfaan:

I have a CCG and use it for about 5 years, it looks like the above knives in finish. The colors are a little faded but it's still purty :)...don't buy no ugly knife, get a decorated sebenza and use it.
