Do you carry yours??

How many of ya carry a bali when you go out??
Have you ever been caught??
How much trouble can you get into if you are caught w/ one in a non-threatening situation??
Would it be an extremely arduous task to go to the supreme court and try to get them to be legal??

Just a few questions.

Nice question,

I used to carry around a balisong whenever I went to certain neighborhoods, but now I don't anymore because I am pretty sure if you got busted with one, since they're mainly seen as switchblades, your in pretty deep trouble with the law.

Now I just carry an AFCK.

Quite a few of us live in the "free" state of Oregon (free to carry balisongs at least). As long as they're on your belt. So I carry one every day!

Same boat. OR is rather nice that way. Don't carry it for self defense though. I just like utility with a bit o'flash

the question should instyead be.. how MANY do you carry
biggrin.gif
but seriously though, I think I like them too much not to take them around.. although I know when to take them off.. RE: AIrports (okay so ONCE i forgot to take it off.. i had to cute my way thru it.. really
tongue.gif
), courthouses (okay so i forgot to take it off and had to put it in my bag and leave my bag outside), and the banks with metal fdetectors - gotta love Philly.. (okay so i forgot.. and had to run back in the car)

aaanyways.. yeah I guess I am just stubborn I carry them both in Pittsburgh and in San Fran when i visit my parents *knocks on wood*

and usually you just get it confiscated from you in a non threatening situation. I.e. NOT drunk, NOT in possession of narcotics.. etc.

I don't carry mine around. First off, I only have two Jags and prefer to carry around higher quality cutlery. Of course, I do have a model 42 on preorder . . .

Second off, I'd probably need to carry them around openly. Maryland forbids the carrying of autos or gravity knives and I haven't found whether or not they consider balis gravity knives so I'd prefer to play it safe.

The second thing leads to the third, not having a good sheath if I wanted to carry it in an unconcealed manner.

And finally, I already carry something like 4 or 6 knives around without adding the balis. I think I need to balance the weight distribution on my pants before adding more to it.

I carry two of them with me at all times, in New Jersey, where they're illegal.

Lawmakers can kiss my @$$ on this one. I've given up enough of my freedom for one lifetime thanx.

I'm proud to say I live in the state of Oregon, and yes...I do carry my Bali-Song in full view on a fairly regular basis - The JS Bowie......not the WH....

We used to discuss this on the old board (back in "tha day", you know).

I'm with Clay. I carry my BM44S whenever I feel like bothering with a belt sheath. When I don't, I just clip on an Endura. Or a CS Desperado, which is not even ambiguous in its illegality.

I'm not breaking the law, my state government is. According to Federal law, I get to carry my 44S, my Desperado and as many guns as I can or want to, because I live in America where we have a Second Amendment. Sometimes our lawmakers don't quite cotton on to this fact, though.

Yeah, in my toolpouch at work, everyday for the last ten years. That's originally what I bought it for. Doesn't cut my fingers when I go digging for it and stays sharp while it's banging around with all the screwdrivers and pliers and such. Best knife I ever bought (steel wise anyway). I think the couple of Balisong afficianados around here would faint to see me driving it into a wall with a pair of channelocks.

Hey Clay,

Since I know you've been caught by the police with a balisong before, what did they do to you? Did they confiscate it and give you a slap on the back, or did they give you a misdemeanor charge?

Just curious.

David77, So far they have just taken them from me.

I talked to my neighbor the other day (a police officer) and he told me, they won't ususlly do more than confiscate unless you're caught while committing a crime.

.......... or if you're a "wise ass". I guess I have to start being more aware of my bizarre sense of humor.

is why so many people in the blade discussion forum think the balisong is preposterous.. because the law has done it's brainwahing and stopped them from getting to first base.

now this is not to say that I am psychotic evangelic with it and flip my balisong in the street (well not anymore
smile.gif
) but I still love carrying it and flip it when indoors. I guess i am willing to risk to keep it on me. The thing is I KNOW that I try to keep my nose clean and stay out of trouble so cops don't go out of their way to frisk me ya know.

That´s one thing I love my country for. The only knives that are illegal are knives that don´t look like knives (belt buckle push daggers, sword canes, Delta Z pen-knives etc.) It´s even technically legal to carry a sword if you´re over 18 years, and it don´t matter if it´s concealed or not
smile.gif
Autos are legal as well.
I used to carry my Benchmade occasionally, but I often change my daily carry knife depending on my mood.

I can see the ad campaign now...
MOVE TO OREGON! WHERE YOU CAN CARRY KNIVES AND STUFF!

I carry mine all the time, its great at work, and i like the look on kids faces when i whip it out (my knife, get yer mind out of the gutter) to open boxes and shave posters.
The cops that come into my work dont mind, one of them acually practices Arnis! Plus i get a lot of "war heroes" that were stationed in the mean streets of manilla,

Yes! I normally carry a mid-level chinese bowie blade model with micarta and brass handles whose production name I can't remember. On special occasions I break out one of my original Bali-songs from pre-Benchmade Bali-song.

I try not to carry mine. Once I accidentally took a Jag to the mall, I just put it back into my car. I am a little to careful and paranoid when it comes to doing something I know I probably shouldn't be doing. Stupid conscience. Oh well, I'll just move to Oregon.
