Do you cut your computer desk?

I DO! One minute I'm on BladeForums minding my own buisiness, and the next I look down and I'm taking slices off my desk with the knife I've been flipping open and closed (BladeForums and flipping knives goes hand in hand (literally!)). Does anyone else have this problem? My desk is ruined, but I'm really glad to see that the D'allara I just sharpened is sharp!

I never cut my desk, but besides knives I am a pyro and Zippo collector and I have set my desk on fire a few times...on purpose of course, lol, I take my butane and hit the knob on the desk spewing out gas, I light it and there is a huge flame that goes out in about a second but no damage...fun pyro stuff, lol...but please don't do this and burn your house down and then come looking for me, lol...

First time I got a knife in D2 I wanted to see if it was as sharp as I'd heard. The plastic trim around the edge of the table got a few good slices made in it. I try not to test blades on furniture anymore though. :o

i used to have a friend that was generally impressed with my knives, and every time he'd see me he'd ask to see whatever knife i was EDCing. then he'd subsequently start cutting the first thing he had in sight, whether it be some wood, or plastic, or metal, he'd just jam it in and dull the blade up. i never knew why he always did that, but it drove me crazy.

a year ago i gave him his very own, strider CPS, and he lost it.

this guy was like the bane of my existance.

I've grown out of it, I think. Then again, I use a laptop on a little bitty table now, so not much to cut anymore. My desk looks like a butcher's block though... Mainly from cutting stuff on it, but I've chipped at it and poked at it... >_>

"Do you cut your computer desk? "

No.

Used to get bored sitting in my work truck and take slices out of the steering wheel.Had to stop 'cause it started looking pretty bad.

Yep! That is exactly what I was doing when I saw your thread as a matter of fact. Looking at the front of my computer desk, you'd be hard pressed to find any sharp corners. I've unwittingly put nice chamfer on it throughout the years of playing with my knives while on the computer. Oh well, it was a cheap computer desk anyway...I think I paid more for my Walmart Spyderco Native. :D

I don't cut furniture anymore, but I messed up a bedside table pretty bad with my knives when I was younger. I felt bad once I saw it years later.

No, too expensive to cut. I do cut other things though and like to burn stuff. Wow, public admissions of my angst. This could get me into trouble. ;)

My computer desk is the only decent piece of furniture I own. It's solid cherry so no cutting the desk.

My left arm sometimes has random shaved patches, does that count?

Sometimes I spaz out and if I'm holding a knife that spazzes too and next thing I know I'm playing mumbly peg.

I've stabbed my computer desk but never cut and very rarely. However, my mom has this thing for the cats to climb on and it gets allot abuse. I almost look at it as a trainning tool. The main support is a 4"X4"X6 feet with carpet covering it. Probably going to have to buy her a new one soon since this one's startin to show signs of where . -Badly (But the cats still use it, so isn't that what matters?)
And yes. I'm still stuck livin with good ol' Ma.

Maybe you should post in Reviews & Testing. How many computer desks can you destroy before you have to resharpen? What's the best edge for computer desks, polished, coarse, or serrated? Have you tried batoning your knife through the desk with Windows for Dummies? Wait till Cliff hears about this test....

LOL......if I started carving up the household furniture then I would have some explainin' to do. In a word......NO, I don't !.......if I know what's good for me.
I keep spare chunks of wood around for whittlin'........and if I don't have that right handy, I resort to my arm hair. Isn't that why God gave us arm hair any way............??

michaelmcgo.....you need to get you some woodworking tools or take a shop class !!!

-regards
