Does anybody EDC a combo edge Spyderco Endura, or just any combo edge for that matter. If you do or don't why?

Combo edges don't get a lot of love around here. I get the impression that they sell better to guys who are just getting into knives, but that's my subjective impression. I like plain edges and serrated edges, but combo edges just don't have enough of either for me. I own 100+ folders, and may not own even one combo edge. At least that I can remember.

I own and carry both time-to-time, I always carry the se ones when working, they are great for ripping thru a hose or tie straps etc

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I hateses the combo edgeses.

IMHO serrations only belong on Rescue Tools employed by military, police, ambulance, firefighter's, sailors, and mountian climber's.

The only other exception to this rule is on fixed blades, and even then limited only to a small 1"-3" section on the spine of said fixed blade, perportionate to the length of the blade equaling no more than 1/3 of the blade length. The KaBar Big Brother is a good example of proper placement of serrations.

I got one of my good friends a CE Mini-grip for xmas (his only good knife), and I specifically choose the CE for him as a non-knife-person because of his job and use and he doesn't sharpen so I figured it would be best for him (and thrilled is an understatement).

If I can help it, no. A sharp plain edge blade can handle anything I throw at it. Then again I work in a library so most of my work is going through boxes, zip ties, and packing tape.

combo edges just don't have enough of either for me.

This ^^^^

Yes. I have a combo edged CQC-13 in my pocket right now and it has been there for the past couple of months.

I agree that CE does mess up some beauty of the blade somewhat. My main goal is to EDC a PE Endura and SE delica as backup and different tasks. But the one part that makes me stubborn and I know this is I love a black blade, I just like how they look it's kinda a purchase benchmark on a lot of blades. So for now I guess I'm just gonna purchase a CE all black Endura.

We can all be stubborn. Go with whatever makes you happy, bro.

I EDC'd a Byrd Cara Cara 2 combo edge for a few weeks before ordering my Super Blue Endura. I think I used the serrated edge once, and the rest of it;s use was on the plain edge section, which never seemed long enough to be properly useful. I am much happier with the full plain edge on my Endura.

I have Benchmade 810 Contego in combo edge and I figured I really dont like the combo edge and I also don´t like Benchmade´s serrations. I will maybe order new one with a plain edge.

I do...sometimes. When I was younger, yes, I specifically sought out combo edge knives because my sharpening skills weren't the best, and a serrated knife was better than a knife that couldn't barely cut. These days however, most of my knives are plain edge, except for a couple of my Spydercos. I have an Endura 4 that is the complete SpyderEdge model. I carry this knife sometimes on the weekends in an off pocket, as I figure I could use it as a last ditch self-defense knife, even though my first line of response would be my concealed firearm. I don't generally see my knives as frontline self defense tools. Is what it is.

Today, I'm carrying a plain edge Kershaw One Ton, but yesterday was a combo Vapor III, for no particular reason. If I could only have one knife with me, I guess I'd prefer it have at least some serration just in case, but I usually have a Leatherman on me as well, and it has a serrated blade. Now, if I'm buying a knife strictly for "fun" rather than actual work, plain vs. combo depends on aesthetics.

I prefer PE blades. I do keep a Kershaw Storm with a Combo edge in my truck every day. It could come in handy on the road to cut some wire, cable, or hose.

I almost won't even take a free knife if it was combo edge.

Unless my friends needed a knife.

I like the CE on my mini grip. Its a small knife but the serrations have come in handy when cutting branches off cypress trees to get my brothers bait back when fishing. Also the make cutting rope much easier. I guess it just depends on what you like and how you use the knife.
