Sorry to ask a dumb question. I know these knives and made for use, but was wondering how many of you edc your custom Hinderers. Just got my spear point in and its so gorgeous. I mainly wanted it for a collection piece, but it's so awesome Id like to carry it around. Its kind of a shame if I just leave it sitting in the safe. Don't flame me LOL, its my first custom.;)

If it were mine I would EDC it. I've said it before and I wasn't kidding...a Custom or production Spearpoint would get carried and used.

As for customs, my FXM is not an EDC per-say but it's around me most every day and gets used a little. So, I guess yes...I use my custom.

That thing looks great Jensen!!

Yeah.....it really does.....
To paraphrase a line from - arguably - one of the greatest movie action heroes of all time...Kung-Fu Panda.....
"I may go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness!"

^ haha! Thanks fellas. It was cool before but now that its seen some action it's got some serious character. I am obsessed with this knife. :)

Haha. It is now! It was a bead blasted blade and sand blasted frame when I got it. Now it is a true working finish. It has earned its keep.

You can edc a custom with stonewash or working finish no problem IMHO - the only thing that will ever show signs of use is a satin blade and even they are surprisingly durable. I say do whatever you enjoy with it my friend, they are functional works of art

I like to EDC a working finish, I reserve the satin for a light duty sunday or somethin, or a night on the town. Odds are you wont put a scratch in that beautie, but if need be you could probly cut someone out of a crashed car. Beauty and functionality all balled into one!

Wouldnt want that shiny new custom lookin like this! Boy iv beaten the breaks off this thing...sterile 24 spanto, not a custom but sure is a user!

I tend to get more enjoyment out of carrying and using my knives, but to each there own, right! I haven't really taken my new slicer to work because I'm in some pretty harsh environments sometimes, but I won't say never... Haha! especially since I carry my flashpoint most of the time too.

Yeah I dont mind beating on my production stone washed blades. I have a production slicer and spanto. I think I may freak if I scratched my new spear point lol, so for now he shall remain a show peace. Who knows maybe i'll change my mind down the road. That satin blade is just so dam sexy!!!!!

Just carry your custom as if it's pocket jewelry for a while...... then overtime you 2 will get comfortable with each other, then you will start treating your knife with respect and cut stuff (every scratch and ding just makes the cutting tool more custom ;)). Baby steps, there is no rush......

For me, If I use a knife then I have less chance of trading it off. The joy of carrying and using a knife I believe out ways the value added by keeping them mint. It seems that my safe queens are always in jeopardy of being sold or traded. But man is it hard to use a few of them.:)

gotta love the search function...

i enjoy using my gear, and have a few knives that i use often. having just received my first hinderer, after looking for so long for the right color (lol i know) i had reservations about carrying it. i didnt want to scratch it, even thought i should just sell it because it would only torture me sitting there.

just like a new car, i just have to get that first scratch out of the way... then itll be just fine.

no sense buying a rolex to sit in a drawer... part of the $ we spend is for the precision and faith in the product when its USED no?

Sure that if I have the chance to find a bowie-grind XM18, I use it, as all of my custom knives.......

aproy,

For me, the beauty of owning production Hinderers is the stonewashing. You can use them without worrying about scratching up the finish!

Once I get my Grayman Satu daily........I won't carry my Hinderer nearly as much. It will sort of become my "dress watch"
