Hi,
Gonna GunKote a few knives as well as BC coat a few more. After spekaing to Mr. Lewis, he says that most makers etch their logo's after they coat their knives. Was wondering if tghe same goes for GunKote. Gun Kote make a nice OD green that I have some of and thought I should etch after coating like with the BC coats. Just needed confirmation by those who are more familiar with coating your knives than I am. Thanks guys.....RDT

Gun Kote is not the same as BC, which I am assuming means bodycote. Gun Kote is a paint. You will have to etch your logo first.

Yeah, I meant Body Coat (Boron Carbide). So I should etch my logo before I coat with GunKote ? I thought it would be after as the etch will eat through the coating as well as the steel. But if I coat over the etch, the logo won't be as visible because it's coated ?, that was my logic anyway. Thanks !.....RDT

I am only talking about Gun Kote here. It is a paint. You will have to etch before you apply it. I don't know how an etcher would penetrate, or even work on a painted surface.
Bodycote, I don't know much about. You might want to call them.
