Ok fellas and felladies,

I like survival knives. Always have. I understand the term can be loaded and difficult to define but that’s ok.

If you have a favorite survival knife - specifically a FIXED BLADE that you would choose over other knives in your collection to carry into harms way (e.g. a potential survival situation):

A) it’s ok - you are ok - you are entitled to your interests and your beliefs and I support you 😉 and,

B) please post a PICTURE! Or better yet PICTURES and/or videos!

You are encouraged to include the name/manufacturer/maker of the knife, what makes it your favorite, and if you like, where/how you might anticipate using it - whether or not it’s a survival situation.

I’ll go first. Mine is one that you might recognize, as I’ve posted many pictures of it around this forum. It’s made by Bill Siegle and he calls it a “Chopper/Fighter”.

It’s 18oz. (so heavy, but reasonably packable I think) 1/4” 5160 ground to a fairly thin edge. It’s got excellent handle ergonomics and I love the overall shape of the knife. I carry this knife for enjoyment during trail clearing and on search and rescue operations where I’m hiking alone at night in the forest without much other gear. Also my pick for a knife in the unlikely event I was going to be in combat and knew I would be moving through/living in jungle/heavy forest:

Let’s see your FIRST CHOICE survival knife. Try to keep it to just one knife, that’s currently in your collection, but feel free to show/describe other knives/tools you might want to bring along.

Thanks in advance for playing!

My absolute favorite "survival" knives are the Becker BK9 and the ESEE Junglas (the BIG one, not the Junglas II).

No pics handy, but if anyone doesn't know what those two knives are, please turn in your BF access badge immediately. :)

Not survival but lots of camping. 2 actually. Tops Ovrlander that I removed the coating, then forced a patina. I beat the hell out of it and it just laughs. The other is a Michael Morris Hunter 8. Great knife from a great guy at a great price. Pretty sure I could survive with either of them.

I’d love to see them… hint hint…

This would do.

scdub...in this situation are we only aloud to have a knife to do everything? If I have options a small axe, saw, and a 4 inch fixed blade would be my go to. If we're talking only a knife as a do it all tool, things get a little harder. Chopping a tree down and skinning a squirrel with the same knife is a bit of a challenge.

If I had one knife.. I would want something simple, durable, easily maintained while not needing a lot of maintenance.

A Gossman would be my pic - not necessarily the one pictured.

^^ I would feel much better equipped if I had this pair with me.
