Do you ever feel "incomplete" without your Spydie EDC(s)???

Yesterday, I took the wife and kids to see her brother at a correctional facility and felt absolutely "naked" without any of my EDCs. Due to the fact that the guards occasionally search the vehicle before entry into just the parking lot, I decided to only take my Leatherman SuperTool 200 while leaving ALL of my regular EDC blades at home. Of course, absolutely NO knives, firearms, etc., are allowed in the facility itself, but I didn't take any blades because of the front gate guards' prerogative to either be a professional about the search or to be a d!ck. These guards have sometimes turned people away for the most ridiculous reasons, and because it was about a two hour drive away, I didn't want to take a chance on being rejected at the gate just because of any knives that I would have had in the truck.

After the visit, I felt a little better with the ST200 back in its' sheath, but without my primary blade(Military CE), and others, I just didn't feel "right".

Has this ever happened to you? For those of you that may go through this on a daily basis(jails, courthouses, etc.)....I don't know how you do it.

Funny, just recently, I've carried 3 spydies instead of two.
Guess that answers the question.

Do I ever feel naked without my Spydies? Yes, very naked. I have carried a knife almost all my life. For the last 30 years many times two even; a large belt folder and a pocket knife. And for about the last 11 of those years, two spydies a large folder - Endura, Military, Starmate - and a small "pocket" Sypdie - until recently a Dragonfly, more recently a Navigator, and now a mouse lives in my pocket.

Rant mode: ON Hell yes I feel naked when I have to leave my Spydies at home! And we can't blame it all on 911. For at least the last twenty to thirty years the freedom and right to be responsible and to be held accountable for our behavior has been slowly but inevitably infringed upon by those who WE Elect and whom WE have given the right to protect us by relieving us of the need to be responsible and accountable - and at the same time doing their level best to insure that we can't be "harmed" by removing the posibility that the vagaries of life can intrude to harm us. Except of course they don't and can't accomplish that "noble" endeavor. But they can and do restrict ever more of our freedoms and pleasures. Rant mode: OFF

Sorry if I have offended anyone, but at least I can and will be responsible for my behavior - including my language

I feel your pain, I attend public high school every weekday with only my Buck 303 Cadet in my pocket (and even THAT I have to seriously keep on the d/l).

When I come home I sometimes overcompensate by slapping on as much as a Necker, Fixed Blade Belt-Knife, and a folder or two.

Hopefully the local community college I'll be going to next year will at least allow me 3" or so...

EDIT: Chuck, be careful with the term "WE", I know *I* never helped any of those utopia-headed liberals get elected. I just suffer them when the foolish masses (mostly of Chicago), clock in their votes based on what they heard on CNN.

Gotta have my Endura with me all the time I tried to move to something smaller and lasted (less than) two days. Thinking of moving up to a Police.:)

Felt a little strange without my Gunting the other day. Wasn't at a total loss but it's just something that I've become used to carrying.

My wallet, my watch, my keys, and at least 1 knife. Without these components I am out of sync all day. Today the knives are my SS Harpy and a Schrade Middleman (3 blade stockman). However like clothes I vary my knives a lot and when I forget one I will invariably need it. :D

I feel off balance with out my Spydies. I've been carring them for so long, that with out them, I wonder how people with no knife make it through a day.

Yes I do,went out the day and realised I only had my cricket. I had left my Gunting at home, I always carry both. Was mortified

That's for sure, I feel very naked without at least one knife clipped to my pocket. In about 80% of the time that will be a spydie.(I tried benchmades, but the thumb studs destroy my pockets) I own about 14 or 15 Spydies, carry sometimes a larger and sometimes a smaller one, depending on the daytime or the location - even for sunday service. For about 12 Years my edc was a standard SS model plain, that I purchased in early '86. Now it's mostly a Lum Chinese Folder blue, or, right now, police G-10 plain, and very often a rookie SS plain.

I try to carry at least Spyderco on me at a time. Today, it's a decorated small Sebenza and a Pro-Grip.
