Do you ever "straighten" your pocket clip?

I have had this happen 6 times in the last 3 weeks with my new Paramilitary. I will be in the shop or house, and catch the clip on a door way, counter top sofa, or something you'd never expect to catch. The clip usually bents out about 30 degrees and stays there. Is this a problem only with spydercos(and me?) Has anyone hooked a Sebenza clip on something and bent it out?

I gave up on the idea of using purple lock tite on the clip screws because I will probably do it again soon. I think IWB carry will reduce the chances of this happening, but it slows ease of access and may make it a concealed weapon.
Thoughts anyone?

Maybe you could grind some of the end of the clip so it did'nt stick out so much. Try just a little at a time to see if you think it might help.

Yeah, I've caught my small Sebenza on stuff a few times. If you catch and bend the clip, just unscrew it from the knife, gently bend it back, replace it and drive on.

I have mysteriously stopped catching the clip lately. Must be unconsciously doing something right.

Instead of carrying the knife at the rear of your front pocket, try moving it to the middle and letting the knife sit at an angle (aiming toward the jewels) instead of straight down. This not only gives you a more natural draw angle, it also has the added benefit of not snagging on everything. You won't be able to keep anything else in that pocket however.

I'm constantly snagging the clip of my Military on stuff. I've probally taken it off 4-5 times to straighten it. I don't think its a problem with the design its just that I forget it's there and don't pay attention. I also scraped the crap out of my car door one day with the clip while getting in. I don't really like pocket clips and the Military is about the only knife that I actually use the pocket clip, only because it's to big to drop in the pocket. I've been considering getting a custom made sheath for the Millie and carrying that way.

It must be something about the Spyderco clip, I have doen it several times with all three of my spydercos. I took the clip off my dragonfly and just cary it in my pocket now. I usualy do it getting out of a chair or couch.

Yes-I broke off the FRN clip off of my endura, and also bent the metal replacement 3-4 times. I've caught clips on CKRTs, too. The only clip I haven't bent yet despite numerous catches is the "spoon" clip of the Gunting. HAHA...Joe

For those who don't know me I am one of Bram's Gunting Instructos in the UK. I am currently holding tactical knife folding seminars and gunting - basic instructor courses (which take 6 weeks to complete) I am in London and welcome anyone who wants to learn how their Gunting works. It was a real eye opener for me back in the days when Bram used the Rekat-Escalator on me...ive been hooked..or should it be ramped ever since. Seriuosly if you want training give me a shout.

I've had a knife clipped to my pocket for so many years that I'm like "subconsciously aware" of that side and I'm careful when I walk past cars or things I can snag the clip on.

Just wait 'til that @#$%^&*! metal clip scratches the finish on your (or someone else's) vehicle, tears some expensive upholstery or gouges the wood furniture, or starts to wear holes in your favorite clothes—you'll regret that the clip merely bent, and didn't fall off completely before disaster struck.

Three solutions to avoid most of this, yet still enjoy the versatility of having clips on your favorite folders: 1) replace with a good FRN clip that won't bend, break, scratch or tear other stuff (my favorite); 2) cover the metal clip with heat shrink tubing; and/or 3) buy or make an inside-the-pocket sheath to which you can clip your knife, thereby protecting both the clip and everything it might come in contact with.

I've a friend who stepped down, out of a jury box, catch his clip on a guard rail, and have his benchmade go clattering across the court room floor. He had forgotten it was in his pocket. As it was pre 9/11 and the trial was over, he just picked it up and quietly left the room.

Yep. Just bent back the clip on my BM 732. Of course I first had to buy a blue tool so I could get the darn clip off!

A couple of my knives have wound up skittering across the parking lot. What I did was take the clip off and bend down the part that curls outward til it's flat on the knife. To clip it to my pocket I just pry out the clip with my fingers. After you've clipped it on a few times it's second nature. Problem solved. I wish they were sold like this, or a second clip enclosed with the knife.

You need to be aware that sometimes the clips are hardened as much as the blade is and that it won't bend but it will break. Even if it bends a little because of how thin it is it still could snap in less than a second if you try to force it too far.

I have been carring my BM710HSSR just about everyday for a few years now and sometimes I scrape up against something with the clip, usually a wooden chair or something, but I've never had it snag and bend.

If the clip is long, or sticks out too much grind some off!! or cut some off!!! Ive had it happen before, not as many times in that short period of time. Try to be more cautious of where your walking maybe? Of course you can do that and still have it happen.
