Do you guys think this was a waste

That depends how much you paid for it and how well it serves you. Not all non-name China / Pakistani made knives are bad... Just test it hard and tell how it performed.

The shipping price seems fair enough, but you got ripped off on the purchase price. You should have shopped around a bit.

Hi,

Like Jani said, it's hard to tell with a "no-name" from what appears China. Some pretty good knives are available from there and some not so good.

You just have to try them out to see. I hope you do get something you like.

I would stick with Wenger/Victorinox for SAK style knives. They are still relatively cheap and have high quality.
Everything else is sub-par.

It is one of the biggest peace of crap/junck/scrap metal knifes out there. they are made in china. when I worked daytona flemarket I got some as examples. I put them in the trash. that is how bad they are. I can not sell that knife to some ones face.

My wife picked up one of these at a yard sale for $1 to give to my son-in-law. I told her it was a piece of crap and kept it myself. Strangely, it's still in my shop...I use it for opening paint cans, scraping crud, etc. It's still a piece of crap...:)

Look at it this way homer;

Is it a Case? No.

Is it a Schrade? No.

Will it function? Probably.

The screwdrivers will be better than your thumb nail, and you can put an edge on the blade, and it will open a package or cut a piece of twine. Most of the rest of the world uses and gets by with some cutlery that knife knuts will sneer at, and look down on. However, it's still a piece of steel, and can be used for stuff that you may not want to grundge up a 'good' knife on. Hey, if man can get by using a flake of stone, a steel knife is a step up from that isn't it?

No, it wasn't a total waste of money. Life has some pitfalls now and then, and sometimes we make less than steller decisions. But if we learn from those decsions, then the lesson was worth something. In fact, if we learn and remember from the decision then it's priceless experiance.

Carl.

Disregard these nay-sayers. You paid a total of $4. Now you get the enjoyment of anticipation waiting for it to arrive. That's worth $4 right there.
The older SAK knock-offs were terrible, but the overall quality of nearly all the knives coming out of China has increased tremendously in the past couple of years.
This one might be a decent knife. Try it out for awhile and then please post back with the results.

+1 on Rolands comment. My wife has a no name sak gave out at a NWTF Banquet that is actually very good quality and has lasted her 3 years. You just never know until you get it in your hands.

Eh $4 what the heck. I seriously doubt the scissors will cut paper twice or cloth once but throw it on the workbench and it might come in handy.
My Mother-in-law gave me a similar knife a few years back and it was so dull I thought they installed the blade upside down! It wasn't worth the 10 minutes of sharpening so in the box it sits..

As Jackknife said it's better than nothing.....

.....But buy a genuine Swiss Army Knife as soon as possible.

a genuine SAK is better, may cost 2-4x but hey it's still cheap and you get high quality
using a well made, quality sak or slippie has no price IMO, why using a ultra cheap one when there's eco-line or regular models? for not so much more, get a used sak from ebay for 10, you'll be happier

I've had a dozen like that come and go. They're disposable, so what the heck. Now, if you'd like a knife that you'll actually want to take care of and carry for awhile...spend $20 and go for SAK at wallyworld

I am amazed that so many guys are so sure of their judgement which is based on past experience with other China knives, not on the knife in question. So if you said something like "most likely it will be of poor quality", that would be a more accurate statement.
Unless you've had an identical knife made by the same manufacturer, you cannot know the quality until you get to handle it. The SAK knock-offs all look fairly similar, but most likely there is more than one manufacturer of these in China and there could well be differences in quality.
Pretty soon the O.P. will have this knife and can try out blade & tools and then we will KNOW.

My thoughts are that you pays your money and you take your choice. Use it in the manner that you expected when you purchased it and then you will be able to make an accurate judgement of if it was worth what you paid for it. It is entirely possible that you have made a purchase that is worth every penny you paid for it and maybe more. Let the knife prove it's worth. That's more accurate/appropriate than anyone's opinion here, especially mine.

It def. won't compare to Vic or Wegner but for 4 bucks, who cares? If you like buying cheap knives from ebay I would check out Rough Rider if you haven't heard of them. They make traditional styles like Case. But they are probably all 10 bucks give or take a couple. And the finish is surprisingly good for a $10 chinese made knife. Not up to par with Case but still really good.

if chinese then Rough rider is one good choice or steel warrior, cost little but are great users

He has another one listed for the whopping price of .99 cents BUY IT NOW.Is it even possible to ship this thing from China for $3.00?
