Do you have a Benchmade clip like this?

The clip is uncoated and the edges were VERY rough, as if it had never seen the final finishing stage.

I don't think the clip is supposed to be like this. I've since received a replacement but I was never really able understand whether it was an old-style, uncoated clip or some kind of manufacturing problem. The new clip does not say "USA" underneath; it is simply "BENCHMADE" centered.

I'm curious. Have other people seen this?

The clips on my Griptilians all came like that (all bought a couple years ago), and I remember reading a thread that there was a change in where the clips were made and their design (I think?) but I can't find it.

I assume it came from a new knife?
Somebody seemed to have dozed off on QA....

Yes I've had the knife for a few months now. It may be an older example but the whole thing seemed rather rough.

It's not the end of the world, just a minor annoyance. They were polite, helpful, and sent me a new one.

The clip on my griptilian has a similar look. It did not take long at all to scratch and wear it with very little effort. I wonder if that clip had seen some time in a "box-o-clips" before being put on...

Anyhow, even if it looked new, it would begin to look like that in VERY little time of wearing the knife in my experience.
