The title says it all. Do you have a knife you keep to do all the things you shouldn't do to a knife? If so, what is it?

With me, its a Mora I traded for at a pow-pow. The knife was ground back quite a bit and the wooden handle was broken. I rehandled it with a file handle and made a cardboard sheath. It's used for things like cutting pop cans and cutting and stripping wire. Hitting with a hammer to cut the wire is optional. It's really held up surprisingly well.

The knife that I carry around on the farm the most is a cold steel american lawman. It gets abused on a daily basis. Its help up really well though just the coating on the blade is gone.

I've got a couple beater knives. One in the trunk of the car, and another couple in various toolboxes. I know that one is a very old benchmade that I broke the tip off of and did a very poor regrind job on. Another is an old single bladed Buck Crosslock that folded on my fingers once. (No major damage but I never could bring myself to trust it again.) I use them for anything that I wouldn't subject my EDC knife to. I actually don't really abuse them all that bad, I just use them when my hands are greasy or it might muck up the blade like cutting off a tire plug. I guess the thing is I would seriously abuse them if I needed to without a second thought.

Like Windex_ I abuse my griptillian every single day. In fact today it was used in such a manor that I now have to get the edge pro out, such a shame I so hate polishing those edges :D I am working on funds for a BK2 I think that looks like it would take everything I could dish out and then some and still not be to big. Oh yeah I almost forgot my old Cold Steel Rajah III that I used to abuse and abuse and abuse it has never complained not even a bit in fact I hear it calling out for some more abuse right now.

Not really. I've got a couple knives I'm a bit more careful with than the rest, but I don't generally abuse my knives. Right tool for the job, eh?

My Buck 110 is really a work horses and gets beat up nicely.

A mini-Bushcrafter I made from L6 steel gets abused by me pretty badly. Its been used to strip wire, it gets Batoned through hardwoods, Knots and all. I also use it to cut thin metal and plexiglass.

i use a cold steel pocket bushman for things i dont want to do to my other knives, and it stands up to them. now if it just felt comfortable to hold....or open...or close...

I have a Cold Steel Bushman that I have abused the hell out of for going on three years and it is still going strong.

Say what you will about Cold Steel , some of their line are workhorses.

I find it hard to find ways to abuse even cheap knives I assign to be abused. I guess I am just inherently careful with my tools. If I were to start thrashing on something it would feel like I was just doing it intentionally.

But, I do have different levels of use I mentally assign to each of my knives.
