I really like the design. Do you have one? Have you used it? What do you think? One of these days I hope to answer these burning questions myself, but for now I am hoping for a review... and in-hand pics if that is convenient. thanks

I love the concept, but I wish Mr. Emerson had designed the grip so the blade could seat further in closed to reduce the "pocket profile".

I haven't used mine, since I am still on the fence about keeping it. Not because I don't like it, but because I have a custom currently, and until I decide it's mine more or less for good, I avoid using. It's a great knife - I love the straight blade. I do agree with Officer's Match Officer's Match that a lot of the blade sits outside the scales. For a larger knife it does not feel "big" and the handle shape is nice.

I plan on ordering one when the plain edge/black finish is available. I like straight blades and also historical patterns so this is great for me.

I’m the same way when it comes to not using a knife until I’m sure , it’s a “keeper.” When choosing an Emerson, I tend to give equal weight to aesthetics as well as utility. To my mind so many of the Emerson’s look similar. So I look at the ones that stand out, and that are different. Examples would be Persians, Tantos, Gypsy Jack, Mini A-100s, etc.

Without a doubt, the Seax is quite different. I like its’ history, as well as Mr. Emerson’s Design execution. His Seax, as far as utility, well...that’s the whole point of the design. The Seax is and was, made to do a little of everything. The blades grind and length at 3.9 inches, plus the way it feels in hand, makes me feel like a Viking. Well...OK...Not Quite, lol. I was certain that I was keeping it, so I ordered it with serrations. It’s a deft Beast.

My Seax is absolutely a keeper. It is one of my favorite Emersons, and favorite knives in my collection overall. It's since been temporarily put in detention while I carry my 20th Anniversary Commander, but it'll be back in my pocket soon enough. Of course, then I'll want to carry something else. Spoiled for choices, life is good.

I agree with your sentiment on the Seax. That Anniversary Commander looks fantastic.

I liquidated half of my Emerson collection , on New Years day this year. I have been thinking I would like one more Emerson. This Seax looks quite intriguing. I might have to get one, along with a Gentleman Jim that I have always admired but never pulled the trigger on.
