In this time of social, political, economic, and health-related stress it's good to reflect on the positive.

I am curious: how many of you have started an enjoyable conversation about Spyderco knives with a stranger (or recent acquaintance)? Perhaps this person is someone who was/is outside your "normal" sphere of family, friends, and acquaintances.

Surely there are some good stories out there!

A guy I worked with not long ago. I saw he had a spyderco clip in his back pocket, as well as a giant mouse clip in his front right. That man has SO many spydies in his bag, some old and limited models. A few old Benchmades, etc etc. The clip in his pocket? A Native Chief. As soon as I held it and opened it I ordered one.

He had old Jess Horns, a Nilakka, Centofantes... It was NUTS. Oh and a Dragonfly... Such a tiny little knife!

Good guy, had a good collection. Had even more at home he said. And I got to show him a few like my Amalgam and Benchmade Super Freek. Good times!

I work in manufacturing. I like to request physical copies of the catalog and then leave it in the lunch room. For now, that's still okay at my work.

Some folks know I'm a knife guy and through general conversations between folks looking at the catalog, they have recommended people come ask me questions. Or one of them might stop me in the hall or walking through the lunch room. They aren't all strangers but not always in a close circle either.

I recently met a quality individual through (believe it or not ) the comments section on a random YouTube video.

I replied to a posted comment about a Cruwear Para 3 (original Gray Sprint) being the only variant of exclusive /sprint I hadn't aquired yet. A third party replied that he had that knife and wanted to know what I had to trade in return. We extended our conversation to private email, Where he informed me that Spyderco knives were hard to come by and expensive in his country.

I had a K390 Paramilitary 2 that he wanted in exchange for the Cruwear Para 3. I've never been "burned " in my life and was weary about the transaction. He offered to send the P3 out first and shipped it 3 day DHL at $75 bucks equivalent currency. I got the knife as described and then sent the K390 PM2 off around the world to its new home.

I was blown away by this individuals moral character and integrity. To sum it up, We've become good friends via email and telephone , All over a couple Spyderco Knives. :)

Had a coworker notice the wire clip on my Caly 3. We hadn't really talked much before that, but since, he is always bringing up knives and showing me his growing spydie collection. We've even swapped Dragonfly's because he hates sharpening zdp-189.
It's been nice being able to talk to someone about knives in person and not feel like a nut job.
