I've looked at them for years the Cold Steel Vaquero series but never bought one. Now looking at the 4 inch bladed version and might pick one up.

Can you tell me your thoughts on yours, good or bad? How do you like, do you carry often or were they a bit disappointing? Thank you.

I've got the 4" El Hombre version in plain edge. Cool knife and s.d. driven intent with the design. keepem sharp

The platform they are based on is solid. I would advise you to stay clear of any of those models with serrations. The tips on the tiny, pointy little serrations WILL snap off, due to poor geometry, and less than stellar steel. The PE versions are good, solid knives. I like the regular Voyagers better than the Vaquero, as the recurve can be a little tricky to sharpen.

The older ones had decent steel and hold up well. The newer ones are not as good, but the blade shape allows for a lot of cutting power for tough materials.
