Do you have an opinion on the UZI Eagle or Baby Eagle Handgun?

I've been thinking about purchasing a UZI Eagle or Baby Eagle handgun. I've noticed them at gunshows over the past few years and they appear to be quality handguns. Does anyone have any experience with them? What is your opinion of the gun? Do they make it in 9mm and 40 caliber?

Thanks!

My wife owns a Baby Eagle in 9mm and shoots it in IDPA competition. She is very pleased with it! The Baby Eagle is reliable, tough, and accurate.

The internals of the Baby Eagle are taken directly from the CZ-75 under license. The main differences are in the details of the exterior ergonomics. Where the CZ-75 feels good in the hand the Baby Eagle feels great! (This will obviously depend on the size of your hands and on your personal preferences.) Also, the Eagle's slide is heavier up front, which makes it fractionally slower to point but reduces muzzle jump.

The only negative comment I've heard from my wife is that this pistol is unforgiving of "limp wristing", probably because of the heavy slide.

If she ends up getting a concealed carry license she will probably pick up a Glock 26 because of its lighter weight and smaller size. For now, the full-size Baby Eagle suits her just about perfectly.

They are available in several variations of slide length and grip height, as well as in 9mm and .40 S&W. You can get technical details at http://www.magnumresearch.com/.

Thanks for that information. I see they even make a polymer version now. What country is the Baby Eagle made in?

A really well thought out design.., and shoots wonderfully!!

I have a jericho model baby eagle in .40S&W and am quite pleased with its performance.
Every thing Bob said is right on.
excelent shooter.
Made in Israel.

I have fired my friends Baby Eagle in 40 many times it is very acurate, it actually seems to be more accurate than my glock 22. The only problems I have with it is that it is harder to field strip than most of the other pistols I have handled. as well as if you have bigger hands the slide could be hard to manipulate. I have also had problems finding a quality holster for the gun.

I have one of the Jericho 9mm pistols, and it shoots very well. Made in Israel if not mistaken. A friend of mine has one of the Jericho .40 cal with the .40 action express conversion and he really like it also. I haven't fired the UZI Eagle, but they are about the same exact gun.

Is the Jericho model the same as, or different than the Magnum Research model? Is the Jericho less expensive?

Thanks for the info guys!

I do have to agree that it's harder to field-strip than many. You get used to it, but it's never exactly fun.

My wife uses a very nice Concealex holster from Blade-Tech.

To the best of my knowledge all variations on the Eagle have been made by IMI in Israel from the same design. Only the importers and names have changed.

What general gun show price should I expect to pay for the full size Baby Eagle? This price would be for all named models-- Jericho, UZI Eagle, and Magnum Research Baby Eagle.

Thanks!
