I just got a new D2 Sifu with finger grooves and the rolling lock always takes 2 tries to disengage.

The 1st time I pull down on the rolling lock button, I can't the lock won't disengage and allow me to fold the knife. I have to pull down again a 2nd time to disengage it.

Is this normal or should I ship it back?

I was always taught that one's facial expression, or "holding your mouth right" had a lot to do with things working properly. Have you tried an expression of fiendish delight as you attempted to release lock?

None of the three Sifus I have owned showed a problem like that. I do remember that one of them was a little hard to unlock the first few times, but it smoothed out quickly.

If yours doesn't clear up after a dozen or so unlocks I would suggest that you contact REKAT about it. Their customer service is excellent!

My Sifu was a bit difficult to unlock when I first got it. It would stick in the locked position and sometimes take two hands to get the lock release slid down. This smoothed out after about two days of constantly playing with it. I've had 2 out of 3 Axis locks do the same thing and they smoothed out the same way. Keep at it and if it doesn't show any improvement in a few days send it back.

I had the same thing happen with my Sifu when I first got it, but like the others mine smoothed right out in a couple of days. Give it a few days until you decide there is a problem. =]

I've got a Sifu but there is no problem with that. But I've also got a Pioneer II and I just got a Carnivoure Cub and they both have the problem. Anybody have a solution short of sending them back to R.E.K.A.T.?

You might try a couple drops of Tuf-Glide, Break Free or whatever lube you like to use. Put it right on the button hole and work the action with the lock side facing up.
Mine was one of the first batch and was notchy to begin with. One thing about lubing the action and working it,it doesn't effect the warranty. If it is a minor inconvenience, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd much rather have a knife that unlocks hard than one that unlocks easily!
