I've had a number of "EDC's" over the years.
And for some reason I've always kept them, even though I was sure they wouldn't see pocket time again.
Some have definitely seen better days. ;)
I always had a weakness for ATS-34. Still do.
Here are a few, and these were shot on the fly at my desk. :)

Buck 422 Bucklite 420HC, Buck 181C Odyssey ATS-34, Junglee Marshal ATS-34, Camillus Cuda ATS-34

Do any of you keep your old EDC's? Do you gift them away?

Great taste in knives. I tend to keep my old edc's. Sometimes, they are given away or experimented on (different sharpening techniques, filework, etc). Could you tell me how the liner on the Military is holding up after EDC?

Liner held up very well and it still works fine today. I do like the more "hidden" liner
on the AFCK in the 3rd pick though. It feels better in my hand.

If im done with it, im done with it, wear it out throw it out, or give it away. wash rinse, and repeat.

I keep them. BTW it's nice to see well used knives. They all look like they have seen some serious use.

Yep I keep them, but I need $1,000 by june to go to Alaska and since no one wants to hire me and its unlikely people will donate to the cause, it looks like I am going to need to sell a few. :(

I generally keep knives I actually carried for more than a few weeks.

If the knife didn't stay in my EDC rotation for long enough, I usually sell or gift it away unless the knife has something I find unique about it (lock design, blade steel. etc.).

yup, i keep 'em. you never know when you need a good beat up old blade. Plus then can bring up old memories that time forgot!

If a knife is going to last in my EDC rotation more than a week or so, it is going to stay until it wears out, until its no longer practical, or until I get sick of looking at it.

I EDC'd an oldtimer slipjoint for several years that I worked in a lumber yard. One of the blades broke and it was dangerous to carry in the pocket so that one got thrown away.

I carried a Gerber multitool until I got a deskjob and it was impractical to carry in an office environment.

I currently EDC a Spyderco Manix. I have other knives that I would like to EDC, but I just can't seem to leave the Manix at home.

There have been others, but these have been my favorites.

Cool topic that should bring out some interesting experiences.

Awesome Photos of awesome knives that have served you very well. It's like veiwing someones family... Very nice!!!! And yes, I hang to my Pocket Vets...

my view is that you should only get rid of knives that are no longer useable. even if you're not carrying it, it is still a spare. unfortuneately all of my knives that I no longer use, had to be got rid of :(.

on the other hand I only have a few knives, so my opinion may be different from people who have more.

I love going through my old knives and remembering events to which they were companions. It brings back good memories and they will make great things to pass down.

Hey babakanoosh45 I think those EDCs have been used,

no seriously! Good man that's what they're for. These are my oldest EDCs currently due to knives of my youth being lost. Between the 110 and 812, the 812 easily gets uese the most.

I keep all of my past EDC knives---I think that, since they have served me so well, it is only appropriate to retire them with honor. I have an oak display case that I keep them in; sometimes I pull one out to carry when I have a sentimental moment. Each knife has its own fond memories and times. I think it's only appropriate that I keep and respect them; they lasted long enough to become an integral part of my kit and life.

Well, you can thank Thomas for me liking Kershaw now.
If it wasn't for him, I would have never tried one.
I jumped on the Benchmade/Spyderco bandwagon long ago and eventually got off it. But I still get one here and there.
Now I'm on the Kershaw bandwagon.
Believe me, I have more than made up on my end in the Kershaw dept. I'm almost at 4 digits. :D
Glad I did.

I have many more EDC's than the above, that's just what I had in 1 drawer of the desk. :)

I usually sell the knives I don't use. If the the knife has sentimental value, it's always a keeper, user or not :p.
