Do you know if any of the US troops in harms way in Iraq or Afghanistan are carrying the Zero Tolerance 0100 fixed blade?

My friend is a Marine and did 2 tours 1 in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan, and he said most of the men are carrying Kershaw and BM. I don't know the exact models they were carrying though.

People for the most part are issued a bayonet and a benchmade or gerber automatic. But it kind of varies. Basically a unit can order anything with an NSN. But the bm autos are pretty standard. And most people are going to buy their own stuff in the px anyway, to alleviate their boredom if nothing else.

ive seen people carrying all kinds of knives downrange, that is one ive never seen.

I carried a microtech curahee crosshair weakside (if someone grabbed my primary id just let him have the weapon seeing as how it was attatched to me and just grab and stab) and a rat-3 strong side for utility, sometime i carried a becker bk-11 for utility around base and a bear and son butterfly to alleiviate boredom. I just cant see what use that weird blade shape could offer anyone in a combat MOS or other boots on the ground type guy.

The ZT folders are immensley popular however epeacially the mudd knife now that was a great folder the zt300 also really popular.

The huge majority are carrying what is sold in the PX and Clothing Sales store.
So popular items are the Gerber Fairbairn series, the CRKT M-16 expecially the Titanium because it is so light and if you are humping your gear nothing heavy will be carried. Everyone has a multi-tool avalible.
I watched at teh PX today as a group of guys deploying hit the knife store and they bought all the CRKT Titaniums, at least one Griptillian, all of the Spyderco Military's, all of the SOG Flash II's.
I;m sure the PX will be restocked with these blades tomorrow.
I sent my son with a SOG Trident, but his Gerber multi-tool was used every day. Get the one that strips wire and he will be happy.

One Marine I know that is in Afghanistan right now has a SOG Powerlock with him. He uses it daily.
He does have a Kabar too, because......well......uh....he's a JARHEAD.
SEMPER FI !!!

Several tours in both Iraq/Afghanistan...Im in Iraq again, atm. We got issued SOG tool, BM Seatbeltcutter, and a POS Gerber auto (its free though, so its ok). I didnt open the auto as I have my reliable CS Lawman/Endura/RC3-Mil combo, the SOG tool has been used, though. In the PX, here they have the usual CRKT M16 crap and Gerber/Leatherman tools. Not to long ago, they had a few BM Grips, Endura/Delica, KaBar selection...with the drawdown they didnt get any replacements though...they sold quickly.

Please let your son know we truly appreciate his service, and have him in our prayers.

My son (e-6) in the USAF security forces Is carrying a leatherman wave, a boot dagger I gave him from Blackie Collins ( I carried it during Desert storm and Southern Watch) and a Bowie I made him. Soon as I figure out how to post pics here, I'll show it to you. I want to thank all the vets here, both past and present, for their service.

It's the one on the bottom. Blade is 7 inches

Someone at CRC had a ZT folder. It is probably the most expensive blade I have seen carried by anyone other than myself over the last three months. I think I saw the kraton handle of a CS SRK sticking out of a sheath on an Airman's leg (he was in PTs with an M9) Other than that, CRKT, Gerber, some BMs, a Spydie, maybe a SOG or two. With ~20K NATO service members milling around, I still don't see much cutlery.

I carried my personal Leatherman Wave and SOG Flash II. I was issued the Benchmade Nimravus and Gerber Auto 06 Tanto and carried them as well.

My friend is in Afghanistan as we speak ( Army)... he's carrying an Ontario XM-1 folder he was issued during his last tour in Iraq.

BTW to all the Vets and Active service people here .... thank you all and God Bless.

I carried a Randall 15 on my armor and a Buck 110 on my belt. Issue Gerber multi-tool and Benchmade belt cutter also on my armor.

Not as many blades as many think in places like that. I saw few large fixed bladed knives on my OEF tour, one other Randall.

Thanks to all manufacturers who support the troops.

To those in service, which support programs from knife makers have been most useful to you?

I've heard from a few Marines that they're using bayonets, multitools, automatic Benchmades and Gerbers, and CRKT's, which they refer to as "crickets".
