Do You Like Stainless Scales ?

Today I took out a couple of older folders with stainless scales. I forgot the feel that they have, I guess maybe its the weight. I like G-10, bone and other materials, and I don't like the fact that the smooth stainless is slick, but I do like the feel of a knife with stainless scales. Anyone else like them ? Or not like them ?

used to love them but somewhere along the way they just got too heavy. lately I lean more toward synthetic handle material like frn/micarta/g-10 etc. still like the looks of the metal handled spydercos but just won't carry one. later, ahgar

I certainly love the look of my Camillus CUDA EDC, but, yeah, that stainless is kinda slippery. I find it's mostly a problem when opening and closing the knife. I noticed the weight first time I picked it up, but not anymore. And it rides quite nicely in the pocket. I'll tell ya this: The frame-lock on this thing locks-up like a bank vault, that's for sure!

Don't like stainless scales because they're heavy, they get slippery, they get cold.

Much prefer Micarta or G10.

I'm sort of up and down on stainless handles:) I actually prefer G-10, but then every once in a while the stainless is a nice change. I don't mind the weight, if I'm not carrying all that much, but then on those other day.... As Keith mentioned, those handles can get cold in our CDN winters:)

I can see them getting cold in the winter.. I like the feel of the extra weight
in the hand. I guess its just been so long since I've had them out that it will be something different for a while. Probably won't last to long though.....

I like them better than FRN, properly executed...but I still consider them a disadvantage. Heavy cold and smooth. The big plus is that you get a very quality looking/feeling knife at an FRN price.
