Do you like wood handles on folders?

I have a rosewood handled Browning 3-blade stockman and a Quince wood Mucsta folder and like their feel. I have a bunch of the usual black Zytel, etc. folders but like the feel of the wood even though nowhere as "grippy". I was wondering if other folks carried wood handled folders and which ones with what wood and do you like them?

I had a phase where I had a few wood handled folders.

I had custom African Blackwood scales put on a Spyderco Persian and that thing was money. That was really the only one that stood out. Fantastic wood, great color, chatoyancy and naturally tough/stable.

I guess my tastes changed because I don't think I would ever buy another knife with wood anywhere on it.

I have a Benchmade small bone collector lockback with cocobolo handle scales. I like it a lot, and it's acceptable to non knife people too. I wish the handles were something like iron wood though, the handle scales don't feel dense enough to me.

The stabilized black palm scales spketch made for me for one of my Southards are just about my favorite handle ever at this point:

They look great and feel great as well.

I prefer something else besides wood scales on a hard use folder. But for a light EDC or a gentleman's folder a well executed wood scale is awesome.

Depends on the folder and on the wood. I think that Mcusta with wood scales are very nice.

I was going to say they make the knife look cheap until I saw hsc's pic, that is a GOOD looking knife! That said, I don't care for them and synthetic materials offer obvious advantages.

nope; not particularly, these days.
i guess what i m saying is that
most current production folders i fancy of late
simply don't use 'em.
besides, the generic opinel and buck 110 folders,
i actually can't remember any other wooden scaled edged tool off hand...

Got a lot of wood on this one. It is a little slick if used out of position but the deep cut grooves keeps the knife secure when gripped correctly. Dry hands don't help much either.

I like wood handles on fixed blades, and I am open to many different materials on all knives. I really like wood handles on folders when they are custom made as the designs get very interesting. I want try a Mcusta wood handled knife. It gives it a certain style or outdoorsman feeling unless it is a darker wood which then gives you a gentlemen feeling.

I definitely like the looks of them!
It kind of depends on the knife and the wood used.
A 710 in wood is pretty sweet...

Given that my knife preferences skew strongly toward traditionals, yes, I like traditional scale materials, including wood. In fact, I generally prefer wood over stag or bone. (Go figure.) I even like them on modern-style folders:

But plastics are OK too: delrin, G10, etc.

Funny thing is that my reawakening of interest in pocket knives in general was triggered largely by a wooden-scale Camillus stockman picked up on a certain auction site. The wood just felt wonderful and has warm glow. This is not that exact knife, but rather a near-twin:

Wood may not be practical in a hard-working knife, being less grippy, but for general EDC I find it looks and works great.
