I apologise if there's already a thread on this, search didn't find anything

I live pretty close to Solingen,Germany (like 30 min) so I've had the opportunity to visit quite a few factory outlets there.
There are mostly kitchen knife and traditional blades, but some more modern stuff as well.
A Böker factory tour is definitely on my list for next year, their store is also very nice
Also bought my kitchen knives from the Solicut outlet, I think its a great way to support my local economy and save a few bucks as well.

So, is there any knifemaker or knife company near you and have you visited them ?

I have no idea. It would be cool though. The closest i get to alot of knives in a general area is the gun show that comes to town every couple of months.

Severtech comes from the same city I live in. Don't know if they're still made though. Actually not even sure if they're a well known company

I live about 15 minutes from Benchmade and about 25 minutes from kershaw pretty nice when I have knife issues

I'm less than an hour away from Himalayan Imports in Reno Nevada (USA). Haven't been there yet though. I just recently became interested in the khukuri.

I live in North Eastern PA, we were one of the birthing places of the modern knife manufacturin' industries, Schrade in Ellenville NY, Camillus, Case and may others were winthin an afternoon's drive.

Luckily for me, this area is rich in custom makers, Bud Nealy bein' the one custom maker who's nearly in my backyard.

In the US, most manufacturers and custom makers are very friendly open people willin' to share their knowledge and spend time educatin' the collectors and buyers of the edged tools we all crave so much.

There's a site where you can go and locate custom makers and manufacturers throughout the continental US, if I find the link I'll post it here.

It always amazed me as to how many people actually make knives in this country.

Does a store with an internet presence count. I live 15 miles from a knife shop which also is Bladematrix. (Hope I can say that)

3 hours to Orlando, FL, where they make Randall knives. 4 hours to Charles Ochs, MS. 1.5 hours to Tom Kyle of Cutter Knife and Tool.

The old Buck factory/museum isn't too far across the state line, here in WA.

I'm in AZ so close to a lot of makers, sheath guys and general rabble rousers (too many to list besides, they know who they are). Oregon and Washington is the place to be if you want to see manufacturers and big time names in the industry.
