Or do you carry an "illegal" knife? To make it a little more fun... did you ever carry an illegal knife. Now you can all tell from your cool italian autos back then

... or did you never have one?

In the States, location is everything, but to answer your question yes i did and probably still do depending on which particular knife i may be carrying, today Kershaw "Random Task"
tomorrow maybe my "Emerson Commander"

Well uhhhhh ...Im not sure I can answer that.....Could you define "violated" ..

I have purposely offended knife laws Twice: Once when I had a automatic knife in my pocket when I walked to work and in the same day when I walked to home. I wanted to show it to my friend and also to feel the thing in my pocket

. Not quite same feeling as riding a motorcycle to sunset and feeling the wind on my face... Here automatics are only allowed in private property. I could have carried thet thing in my rucksack and be legal...

on occasion I carry an auto, but mainly around the farm because it doesn't scare anybody, and I'm on my own property, so I couldn't really get into any trouble.

I've possibly broken a couple laws before.

Yes, I obey all the knife laws. As a peace officer it would be hypocritical of me not to.

Well, I don't think I ever have.

But, I'd think twice if I were you about posting here to tell us about how many times you've violated the law, I mean, what if you were arrested for doing so, and they came here and saw that you'd done it before...

I obey the spirit of the law.

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

If you're a peace officer, most (if not all) of the knife laws do not apply to you.

Like gun control laws, they violate the Constitution, which voids them in the first place, so I guess they don't apply to me either. Which is why I ignore them.

What exactly is so hard about the 2nd Amendment to understand? Its language is pretty plain.

I have been known to carry unlawfully for... lets say..... Two or three years.

That was when I owned my switchblade though.

I would never do anything like that now.

I was a really stupid kid way back when.
I had one of those knives you spoke of, except way back then it was an Italian Stiletto and a Switchblade!!!
And there were situations where I would have probably pulled it and had it taken away from me and used on myself.
I was also a Really Lucky kid!!

Owen, I agree with you 100% about the 2nd ammendment.
BUT, about police officers it is a common fallacy that the laws don't apply. Policeman and military personnel are only allowed to carry autos on duty IF there superiors allow it. And these days, most don't. That is why if you look at the sites that sell autos, you will see that most ask for a letter from their superiors in addition to a copy of their ID. And even if they get the ok, they can only carry while on duty. It is wrong to think that the laws don't apply to them.
BTW-I'm not saying I agree with policy, just saying how it is.
