Do you oil your multi-tools?

Every once in a while, or if there is grit in the works. Maintenance usually consists of a blast of WD 40, wipe-down and a drop of machine oil at the pivots. I have no regular schedule on this, but over years have experienced smooth operation and no corrosion on any of my several multitools (Leathermen and Vics.)

Maybe it's not a bad idea to read and follow the instructions on maintenance packed with these things, if you can get past the affront to your manhood. :D

Those littlke suckers work great and is good for the pivots on multi tools,

Same as I do. As long as they're clean and working OK - MTs or knives - I don't touch them but every once in a while I'll have to clean (usually acetone or Windex, depending on what the surface is and what the contaminant is) and lube with CLP, applied either by spray or with a toothpick. Then I use a cloth or paper towel to remove any lube I can reach, since the towel won't get into the pivots.

BTW, acetone is great for removing tape residue if you've been opening boxes.

I use Rem Oil on pivots , and a quick wipe down once in a while .

I use and wipe a new tool with "Tuf-Cloth" which leaves a dry lube/protection that doesn't gum up later with dirt/dust.
I do periodic inspections (especially after use) and re-apply.

If I'm going to use a tool/MT for food prep I use mineral oil only, before and after.

I usually soak them down every now and again with WD-40, let them sit then blow them out with compressed air and wipe them down.

A drop or two of Rem-oil from time to time on the piviots also.

when i work mine over i usually loosen the pivots 90% and then spray in WD40, take some compressed air and blast it so the WD40 gets into every little nook and cranny, then dribble in some Blue lube and tighten. then take a WD40 soaked Qtip and rub down every other nook and cranny till those buggers SHINE!

You MUST oil your multitool, i made the mistake of not oiling mine and i found opening and closing the pliars became harder and they got sticky. i have tried to use oil to make them open and close properly but i cant.

Sounds like it needs a good cleaning. If it's a Vic, soak in in hot water and detergent for a while, then scrub it, dry, & oil.

Try Break Free CLP.
