Okay you guys, share if you ever bought a movie replica knife, dagger, whatever. I know there is a lot of hate for having such things- but just shut up LOL. Not all of us can buy a $5,500 Lord of the Rings replica Sword from Weta, and are stuck with the United Cutlery Brands- which I think are decent for decoration purposes. Lol Don't be mean-just share.

Nothing wrong with buying replica or display pieces. If it floats yer boat, do it! It only becomes a subject of mockery if you're the type to go batoning with your new God of War Blade of Chaos, or carry your Riddick Alien Cheese Dagger (;)) at work...

:D

I don't have any myself but have often thought of picking up a daishō set strictly for display. I'd love to own a genuine antique katana, but I don't think that's in the cards for me. Real deal or a replica, I wouldn't actually use either anyway.

I don't own any movie replica knives but I have always wanted to buy all the knives from the Rambo series.

This. Nope, don't own a single one. Ceptin maybe some knives that got used in movies, but they were not highlighted in the movie. For instance I have an old el cheapo in-and-out knife. I have seen that knife in a movie or two, but cannot recall the name. I believe Anthony Hopkins used one of them black handled Spyderco Harpy's in one or more of the Hannibal series movies. I have one of them as well.

I'm sure a kit of us have a knife or two like that.

If someone went carrying around a movie replica prop, swinging it around, and gloating about it like a "boss", then they need to be strapped into a straight jacket ASAP! But on another note, my step-brother had a Indiana Jones Khyber Bowie Knife, and I was always secretly in love with it. Great movie series and a nice movie relic. He ended up gifting me the Indie knife for X-mas :-)

What if you work in a cheese factory? :D

I've never owned a movie replica, but I did buy several of the United Cutlery "Black Ronin" series a number of years ago when my interest in knives was rekindled as an adult. They fall somewhere in between fantasy and functionality. They are very soft 420J2, but they are extremely tough and can be used for actual cutting tasks if one is willing to resharpen them very frequently. I think some of the Rambo stuff is probably of a similar nature. The full-on non-functional fantasy stuff just doesn't appeal to me. For example, the LoTR swords from UC, which mostly have welded-on rat tail tangs and are actually dangerous to use as you'd use a real sword. Nothing wrong with collecting this stuff if it appeals to you, but do yourself a favor and make sure you know their weaknesses and unsuitability for actual use. As display/conversation pieces they are perfectly fine, just not my cup of tea.

I have to remember that, my buddy is a die hard Indiana Jones fan, has the hat, bullwhip and probably a few other things as well. Has "accidently" (according to him) dressed as Indiana Jones when going to disneyland and got mistaken as an park employee by the ride numerous times. Guess I need to make sure that finds it's way into his collection one day.

I own a Mikov Jaguar lever action that is actually 4 serial numbers away from the one that was pulled on Bond in "Casino Royale" during the BodyWorld fight scene (it's essentially identical). I didn't mean to do that, it just sort of worked out like that. I had a Severtech SPARTAN on order (from the movie Spartan) but Severtech stopped producing before my turn came.

I always wanted a Jimmy Lile "First Blood" knife - but they were too much...and then even more too much...and now at 2k -- not worth it to me anymore. The Vaun Neeley First blood knife was 440C. HELL WITH THAT. 9" 440c? The next generation Lile were at least CPM 154cm

but for these prices - for a user, I'd just get a Busse.
