Do you prefer getting fixed blades or folders?

Just takin' a little poll here. I really enjoy buying fixed blades -- a lot more than I do folders. I dunno why. I own 4 folders... and 9 fixed blades. What about you? What do you get more of a kick out of buying?

Yes, I know they are for quite different purposes, I'm not asking about that.

i go back and forth...I'kk go through kicks where I'll buy folders...then I'll but fixed blades. My latest has been large blades, Bowies and Persians...some smaller EDC fixed blades...

Im more of a folder guy but I do enjoy my fixed blades alot... I just find folders alot easier to edc

i tend to buy folders. i find them more useful for the environment i live in. that said i do like a good fixed blade (namely ESEE's)

About 50/50 here. I don't prefer one over the other, I just pick the tool that's best for the job at hand. Sometimes that's a folder...sometimes it's not.

Fixed for me, but no denial that I was in total fascination when I handled my first frame lock folder.

For EDC I want something that I can draw and slice, don't like the extra step of flipping the blade.

And I've got enough properly-sized fixed baldes for heavy duty works...

I have the fixed blades i feel I need, and my "Grail" knife, A on the small side bowie style, so I think I get more of a kick from folders. That does not stop me from buying or learning more about fixed blade knives, but I am liking a lot of different folders now.

Different blades for different tasks. Really depends on where I'm going and what I'm doing.

Fixed blades. Now if only this anti-knife state backed off a bit, I'd carry them over my folders.

Both. I almost always carry at least one folder (It is really hard to choose in the morning) and a fixed on my belt. I am lucky enough to have a job that is conducive to knife use. For pure enjoyment I like folders though. They are more fun to play with while sitting watching TV or whatever.

I love fixed blades, and I often wish you could openly carry them wherever you want. Since that is not the case I tend to get more jazzed about folders, which I am able to carry and use every day.

Im all about some fixed blades. Especially the gaudy ass survival knives. The more edges and teeth on it that can give you a lasting memory the more I like it.

Fixed blades, without doubt. I really only look at folders when I either (A) need a new one, or (B) have a enough throw-away money to buy one (after I've bought whatever fixed blade or machete I'm likin' at the time).

It depends upon the task. If i'm buying a knife for use at work or carry around town, folder. If it'll be used for any outdoor activities then fixed blade.

Lately I get a lot more kick out of buying fixed blades but that is because I've got a million folders for every different need that could ever arise and some that I've made up to justify more folders. I don't have much of a collection of fixed blades though and so every purchase I make is a very well thought out one for a very specific need and I use the heck out of them.

Mostly carry knives for self defense and some utilitarian use. In both does roles I have found that a fixed blade is best. I do have a few folders, but a rarely carry them.
