Do you prefer Ti Ti on a knife or green G10?

Im just curious because I had an interesting experience. I bought a Grayman Satu with green G10 on line from their website and when I received it, the lockbar was very tight and stuck beyond normal tolerances. I contacted Mike and Sue by email at Grayman and explained my concerns and they very graciously told me to send it back and immediately sent me a completely new replacement knife. However, as a generous gesture, he sent me an all Ti model which is about a $15 more expensive version of the knife. He sent the upgraded version without asking but I know he meant it as a completely selfless and generous offer to appease me. I am grateful and the replacement knife resolved the mechanical issues with the lockbar and it works quite well. I love the knife and the gray Ti is nice, but I kind of liked the green G10 a bit more aesthetically.

I am just curious, not that it is an issue, is there a preference for Ti Ti grips over G10 grips? I know many of the higher end knives come this way such as Chris Reeves and others. I don't want to be and ingrate and I am not going to send it back, I have already bonded with the new Ti Ti Satu and it is fine. Am I the only one who thinks the green G10 is more interesting than Ti. Is there some advantage to dual Ti grips or is it just what it looks like that makes people like it? Perhaps I am missing something, why are they more desirable if that is the case?

By the way this is not me complaining at all. I can not say enough good things about my Satu or about Sue and Mike at Grayman. They are the best and he makes a very solid excellent knife.

The three reasons I would prefer G10 over titanium is you're concerned with scratches, grip and weight. If you're satisfied with the tradeoff then I'd take titainum everytime.

Isn't the titanium version a limited run? I'd love to see some pics.

Most people prefer G10 or even micarta on the dress scale, over all-titanium. I prefer a full titanium handle. The composite handle material is grippier, but stonewashed, satin, or bead-blasted Ti isn't so bad either, unless the weather is cold or wet, or both. The composite handle scale also cuts down on weight.

The Ti is Bead Blasted and very grippy, and the weight is not an issue on this knife, since it is pretty heavy anyway. I guess I see the Sebenza in all Ti which is probably one of the most sold and desired $400 knives out there and figure all Ti must be better since the Chris Reeve Sebenza is so popular. I want to really love it. I do love the knife for it's design, fit/finish, size etc. and I have such great respect for Mike and Sue at Grayman for the way they handled my concerns when I bought this knife from them. I don't really think scratches are going to be a problem at least so far, I don't see it as being too easy to scratch. It is a solid, beefy no nonsense knife.

edit; The Ti Ti is a limited run, not sure how many or how long it will be available, their website does list it as "new."

Here is a picture from their website.

For me,

Definitely Ti on Ti.

You can always have an aftermarket G10/carbon fiber scale made for you later if need be.
That way you still have the original Ti scale plus whatever colours you want in G10.

Not sure how an aftermarket G10 would work on this since the Titanium is the same thickness on both sides with dual Ti grips. I assume I could always have Mike add the green back on and replace the Ti if I ever get bored with the Ti. Shouldn't be that expensive, I don't think. Thanks for your feedback. I do find it interesting and the Ti is actually starting to grow on me. I never thought it ugly or bad, just kinda liked the green and was surprised to receive Ti.

Any decent aftermarket modder will be able to make one for you. ;)

Does the maker not just switch one for G10 and one for all Ti? Or are they different knives with different fit?

I do not care for all Ti knives personally. Part of the reason I don't care for the Sebenza. They just look so plain. But to each his own.
