Do you recommend Buck Vantage Force Pro for EDC?

Looking for deep carry EDC knife a little bigger than Leek. I have had my fill of Spyderco's but want something else and something not everyone has.

The Buck 110 caught my eye for its rugged vintage look but wouldnt be practical in the tri state ny area where i would need a sheath. The new Vantage Pro Force with G10 has caught my eye. I really like the desert tan color as it doesn't look "scary" to city slickers.

Would you guys recommend this model? It seems to have a lot of great qualities...S30V, G10, deep carry pocket clip, nice edc blade size 3.25", flipper + thumb hole deployment, and forever warranty.

I used to own the Para Military 2 and that also was S30V and weighed about 3.7 oz. Seems very comparable to the Buck Vantage Force Pro. Would love responses and your photos of this model.

They are great knives. I don't carry my pro to work. I carry my paperstone vantage. It is super, flips out good and seems to hold its edge well. Also, it fits my large hand very nicely and sits deep in the pocket. I think this would be a good choice for you.

I agree with russianpolander they're awesome knives and you couldn't go wrong buying one.
I also have one for sale if your interested.

The Vantage Force Select has also caught my interest. $40 seems even a better value. If 420HC is good enough for the 110/112, should be good enough for my light edc tasks.

I guess i will just have to make sure the dealer makes sure the blade centering is good, and the blade doesnt catch the metal spacer on the way closed.

I've had the 12C27, S30V and 420HC versions. The scales are progressively more comfortable as you move up the ladder to the S30V version, flip better too. I gave my sisters boyfriend the 420HC version. He carries a Buck trapper and that Vantage. I don't have any now, only gripe is that I'd like to see a lanyard hole on these.

I carry a std Vantage most days, I like it a lot. Great buy for the money in my mind.

Choices for EDC carry are super-highly personal. Really depends on your preferences (including your choice of clothing/pants) and the environment where you'll be deploying the knife. I think your buds are a big part of this. I think 420HC is just fine for my use, but if I hung with guys who only dug super-steel, I would need to brace myself for the expect crap/pity-fest that follows. "Oh, the 420HC doesn't bother you? That's cool. See the Bruins game last night?"

Like you I really dig the classic looks of the 110 but find it's just too much for EDC use. I have both the 112 and 500. Both have 3" blades, which I find to be just about perfect for EDC use. One of these knives is the most beautiful production knife ever made. I'm not sure which one and my answer changes from week to week. It's sort of a Oreo vs Chips-Ahoy thing, I think. Regardless, whenever I use either of them, I wouldn't change a thing about them.

OK.. I lied. Buck should make a drop point Ranger 112. They should offer the drop point blade in both the traditional brass/ebony and in the new Paperstone. I think that would be a home run.

From the top: Buck 110, Buck 112, Buck 500, Buck 482.

I carry my Vantage in the right rear pocket, shorts. jeans to slacks. I dont even know it's there until I need it. I feel that the 420 hc is a very good EDC blade. Since this is your first Vantge you might try the Avid, very nice package for the price. The new force pro select is also very nice they can be had for around $40.00 in tan or green for the 2012 model. You really can't miss with one of these.

I carry a Vantage of some sort every day. I have every one made including a Carbon fiber scale Vantage I had JAG knives make for me. I love the Vantage and would recommend it to anybody. I can tackle anything you put in front of it...

I dont own one but I have been EDCing a Vantage Pro over a month now. It's a great knife and is flipping smoothly now. I would love to add a Vantage Force Pro sometime in the not so distant future. The stone finished blade and desert tan G10 scales looks awesome. Yeah, go get one.

Choices in EDC knives are highly personal and this question is in no way a question on your preference.

But, I'm curious why you chose a Griptilian over one of the Buck offerings?

Again, not judging in anyway. Just curious.

I also have been carry the vantage pro for about a month . My spydercos and the ZT and kershaws and all the rest are in the back seat. It is a great knife.

The Vantages are great knives, I especially like the lowrider pocket clips that are among the most inconspicuous pocket clips I've seen. Also with the Pro Vantages you'll be getting some excellent S30V IMO Buck makes some of the best S30V in the production knife world.
