do you round the edge on your contact wheel?

When I used to do alot of hollow grinding I rounded the contact wheel edges so the belt would play over that radius. This makes for a better transition at the shoulder/bevel.....smoother and more rounded than just a straight cut.

I rounded mine over with a router bit.

I think the drawn out plunge cut is more aesthetically appealing...it adds to the hand-made looks of a custom piece. Also, if a guy wants to get technical, it makes a stronger blade.

Just my thoughts :)

I sure would use your machine a lot before I took that rubber off. The only way you could get an edge again would be to turn the whole wheel down some. Try driting the sanpaper over the edge a bit for a particular job. Regards Frank Niro.

Hi all and hope you are having a good christmas. I radius mine also, but was having trouble getting left and right to match. One afternoon during happy hour this idea hit. I keep lots of different sizes of angle iron around, so I found a peice that had the radius I liked on the inside, then put contact cement on the inside surface and a peice 100 grit sand paper, Stuck them together and put on a 1/2in. belt turned the speed down while I held it to the wheel corners and instiquicko the left and right corners are matched better than I can grind. I may be wrong but I think the angle iron I used was 3/4 or 1 in. May sound crazy but works for me.Yall take care and have a safe hoilday.
