Do you see GEC making more easy opening knives?

It looks like the Boys knife Scout is the only model that is EO and I wouldn't mind seeing some new ones come out. Maybe there isn't a high demand for them?

They have made a number of knives with EO notches in the past, I don't see why they would suddenly stop, unless there was no demand for them.

I think they look great and so easy to use. Actually I should say they look very user friendly since I don't own one yet.

GEC made EO's in the 25 pattern. Here's one they made for Bulldog.

Very user friendly but I am not a big fan of the look. Ruins the handle for me. Their spring tension has gotten a lot smoother over the years, with less of a hard pull. If it is a good seller and not used solely on SFO orders, I would say they would probably keep it in the rotation.

I really liked these when they made them and had every intention of picking one up but never got around to it and now you can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks for sharing I really like that one.

The older I get the less nimble my hands are so the EO knives would be in my rotation. I'm not crazy about having scout on the handle though.

I know you asked specifically about GEC, but did you see Case just came out with a line of EO's?

I still need to try one out, but I do think I will like them as I was more of a modern folder guy first. I enjoy a large variety and am up to try something new.

Several custom makers have EO jacks out there, at affordable prices too. Also, don't pass up older knives. I've bypassed some great looking knives because of the EO, but if we're slinging acronyms, mine might be OCD :o.

On bad RA days, knives get harder to open and some become impossible so an EO GEC has been slowly moving to the top of my list.
If the 85's come out again in an EO and I happen to have the funds, I would like to get a single spear EO in with a lanyard hole (so I don't drop it). A kind member here gave me a chance to purchase one around Christmas but the funds just weren't there and I was still paying on some SAKs.

I personally love EO's. I've been keeping an eye out for a decently priced single blader to experiment with adding an EO notch to. I imagine I'll destroy at least the first one I attempt this on. Doesn't help that I don't have a drill press...

They'll make more I'm sure. I think they've been fairly popular. I only have one EO but I like it a lot. It's an 85 in African Blackwood. Watch the Exchange here and one will come up for sale. You have to watch the Exchange and jump fast as knives sell quick here.

I recently picked up this NIB Case Copperhead EZ Open wharnie in smooth antique bone. It's not a current-year model, but one that was released from the Case Vault on 1/1/12, I believe. (The place where I got mine also had a Slimline Trapper EZ Open of the same vintage & handle material, but I'm a wharnie guy!)

That's a beauty.

I've decided I won't be buying any more GEC knives unless they are EO types or until GEC softens the springs. I only own two GEC knives right now and I like them a lot but there are some days I simply cannot get them to open without splitting a thumbnail or prying them open with something. Other than price, that's my only complaint about them.

Some of the 73s and 15s have lighter pulls, if you get the chance to handle any, some patterns can even be pinched open.

The 15's have fairly light pull. I own two GEC knives and they're both Barlow 15's. I like the 15 pattern and don't plan on buying any other pattern at this time.
