CRK when it's anywhere between nib or a fs on BF when you buy it. It's an ' ify' question.

I used to with nib or lnib and with fs BF CRK's, not so much any more. I used to like them like them just a 'little' sharper

with my SM not quite so much any more. And You.....

Ya. I know some BF sellers don't know how to sharpen so you don't have a choice.

I am a little puzzled by the wording of your question, but is the gist asking if we sharpen our CRKs ourselves? Yes, I do but only when the factory edge erodes. Most all of my CRK products have been plenty sharp from Idaho, but I will sharpen myself instead of sending them back when it's time for a touch up. After lots of experimenting and trial and error, I have found the best combination of longevity and cutting efficiency come from a nice 600-800 grit diamond edge. It still has some bite but is a slicing machine!

I sharpen both my CRKs on a Wicked Edge when the factory edge is no longer satisfactory. I use the 600 grit stones to start and move up through the Chosera stones. Then I strop and it's good to go. I use about 18 degrees per side. I find that a good balance of sharpness and edge retention.

Yes, I've touched up a factory sharpened CRK. I always check for the level of sharpness I prefer.
I try to keep the factory angles, I'm not one for re profiling an edge if it doesn't need it. They're work knives for me.
The ones I have for collecting and not using won't be touched.

Personally, I use FHS to HHT4 or higher to get a DFS or at least a BBS shave. You need Rc 62 or higher, with a good PM alloy, never pay MSRP, and always remember YMMV.

I am always been picky with the knives I bought. If it is not up to my standards, then its going to get sharpen. Nowadays, most manufacturers do produce their blades with an adequate edge. Most have grind lines that irks me. With exception to a ZT560, all my folders have been sharpen. I have 3 systems, sharpmaker, wicked edge and free hand with sandpaper (>2000grit above).

I sharpen everyone that gets used. No matter what the steel, if you use it to any extent, it will dull. I use a three stone, 11.5 inch Norton coarse, medium and Arkansas Fine system. It's old school but I was taught well and, quite frankly, I'm close to old.
