Do you spend too much on knives?

My wife certainly thinks so and she's right! I have more knives than I'll ever need. Don't ask me how many!

I, do, however, get great pleasure out of them and am okay ($$$wise) as long as I don't order too many customs!

Wanna be in my will - I have daughters.

Interesting! Do you have pictures of them?
I mean the knives?

Just kidding. Too bad I'm married.

My wife kinda have the same opinion as yours. I tried to explain to her why I need to have new talonite ones but it wouldn't help much.

Do I spend too much on knives? always no. But do I have too many knives? Probably. That's why I'm selling a bunch of them.

My attitude has changed, from having so many production knives to fewer custom ones that I really like. I used to have those Benchmades and Cold steel's all over the place. Many of them just sit still in the locker. Lately my Nimravus just disappeared without trace. Some guest might consider I had too many to use in a lifetime.

Les Robertson said if you had a valuable knife like a Brend, you'd never lose it even in the field. That's so true!

After I read Steve Harvey's comment some time ago that he always sold the knives he didn't use, I agreed with him. Now I plan to have less. That also means less complaints from the wife. Good for her that she never asks about the price.

Dew.

It all depends on who you ask. Ask me you get one answer, ask anyone else who knows me and you get another.

Luckily I'm always right.

Hmmm.... My mortgage payment is late, the phone bil is late, the electric bill is late, the cable bill is late....
My knife supplier has all these monies.

Therefore, no, I do NOT spend too much.
(The lights are on, the phone is on, we still live in the house, etc.)

My wife has other thoughts on the subject, but she's not here now.

No.

I do;

Spend too much time at work.

Spend too little time on vacation.

Not get to own a motorcycle.

Not get to take flying lessons.

Not get the weekend off to enjoy these things.

I buy too many knives. I spend too much on knives. I like knives too much. I spend too much time using, caring for and thinking about knives. I am an extravagant, trivial, preoccupied, border-line psychotic, antisocial, old fool for my interest in knives. My wife is absolutely right about all that. And if I admit my folly, maybe I can sneak out to the Canadian Knifemakers' Guild show tomorrow and buy a few knives.

Oh I definately spend too much on knives. I drive a '85 Ford P/U which has no payments except liability insurance so I can have more money to buy knives with. I would rather rumble along in that old truck and have a good knife in my pocket that have a new truck and cheap knife

Don't I remember something about self incrimination somewhere?

In my opinion, he that is married, and would answer a question like this would be a fool!

No,...but my wife buys too many shoes.
I only buy knives so she doesn't feel guilty.

Knives and wives!!
On my latest buying binge I've spent $250 in the past 6 weeks and intend to spend another $450 in the next couple weeks.
My wife just chuckles and teases me about this, lest I remind her of the annual trips to Goodwill with no longer worn but barely used clothes and shoes and what it costs to keep her closets full.
Knives are at least a durable product with the potential to hold some of their monetary value. I suppose it is their intrinsic value which we appreciate most.

Too much is a relative concept. It depends on one's budget. Twenty years ago, I couldn't have afforded to spend the way I do today. That was then...this is now.

Compared to my salary YES.

I have started to order new knives to my job address.

I can say this because she does not hang in net...
