Do you store you NIB knives in the box?

I have a couple discontinued knives that I bought to admire and once in a while play with rather than use. I have been storing them in the box, but in addition to being inconvenient, the tabs on the benchmade boxes, for example, don't like being opened.

How do you store your non-user "safe queen" knives?

I store all mine in those plastic gun boxes with the thick foam padding. I store the knife boxes in my out building in a plastic storage tub to keep moisture and mice from damaging them. If the knife is an auto or assisted then I store them in the open condition to keep pressure off the spring. Some say it won't hurt either way to store them open or closed but I say why chance it. Just something to think about.,,,VWB.

What's a safe queen? ;)

All of mine are users except my growing collection of Buck 110s. When I'm not using a knife or have retired it from EDC, it goes back in its box. I've got more knives out of boxes than I do in boxes, but for most of the knives I've bought new, I still have the box.

In the box. If I buy a knife on the secondary and it doesn't come in a box it goes into a zippered pouch.

I have several knives in a box mixed together, they will be used and broken eventually. if it came with a pouch it stays in the pouch.

I breakdown the box flat and then rubberband them and keep them separate.

The knife goes in a synthetic impregnated sock and the leather sheaths just go in a drawer that gets air often. Then i try to do something on the computer linking the correct knife to the correct box. So far Im pretty organized but I know damn well im on the edge of madness!

I do. Reno is low humidity though. All NIB knives stay in their original packaging on a covered shelf.

I just keep them in the boxes until I decide whether to keep them or sell them.

Don't got any safe queens.

I store my knives in Dodecapods. I just prefer my knives to be surrounded by fleece than plastic/cardboard.
