Do you use any of your original blades?

There is no doubt many members have multiple blades. Of your original knives or tools are there any that have survived the test of time and continue to be used.

I still flip my very first quality knife, a BM 43... but it doesn't cut anything besides paper (and me) anymore.

My original knife was a Buck knock-off with a 2.5" blade. It survived through Cub and Boyscouts, numerous camping trips, until it was replaced by an original Leatherman tool.

I still have it, but can't see myself using it. It's been sharpened numerous times, and has some kind of thick green paint on the handle from I can't remember what. The Leatherman was great for a while, but the blade is now broken, and the pliers were never hand-friendly.

A Gerber Tool got me through Explorer scouts.

My original mid-80's Spyderco Police Model was used hard for 10 years, and although long since retired to the display case, is still razor sharp and flawlessly functioning.

My 50 year old Cub Scout and Boy Scout knives, from Camillus, were used even harder, as only a Scout could do, and although showing the wear of time, would still function just fine today.

My Buck 110 looks good after 27 years, a solid folder still in use. The lock on my 15 year old Spyderco Endura is no longer trustworthy, so I do not use the knife.

My first "quality" knife was a Benchmade Grip in D2. Still cuts like a banshee, but then it's only about 4 or 5 years old.

I still have my first knife. It is a Schrade LB7 ( like the Buck 110). That knife was abused, and it still is going strong after 15 years.

Thanks,
John

My first quality knife was a Buck 110 back when I was a soldier. I don't carry it anymore since I now work in an office where smaller knives are more appropriate.

Hmm, let's see... It's kinda hard to remember the first ones.
Cold Steel: two folders; sold off one of them, haven't been able to sell the other. three fixed; sold the Trailmaster, gave the mini pendleton to someone, will probably give the ready edge to my sis-in-law as a purse knife.
Schrade 110 knockoff: gave to one of my wife's cousins. He had a kershaw that I could not sharpen, so I gave him that as a consolation.
Mora: Dad bought it for me when he visited Sweden. A keeper.

First custom: Dozier straight personal: still in the rotation.

Of all the knives gathered during my teenage years only two still remain. One is an old West German marked stag handled fixed blade (that I could never get sharp) and the other is a Case Shark Tooth lock back that I got for Christmas about 30 years ago.

I don't use either, but I clean and oil the Case knife all the time.

I don't still have my very first knives lost them I was only 5 but I do still have and use from time to time the ones I got when I was around 7 or 8. That makes it 40+ years.

The first knife I ever made from back in 1959 is still used at my workbench. Around the same time I got a Case trapper that I still carry off and on.

My first decent knife is a Uncle Henry lockback similar to a Buck 110.I don't use it anymore because I prefer drop point blades now.It is 25 years old and sits in the safe.

I no longer have my first knives, but my Buck folding hunter (now called a 110) is some 37 years old. I still take it camping with me.
