Do you use Rynowet sandpaper?

Hi. I'm wondering if this is a good product as compared to 3M and Norton. It certainly does sell for a lot less. Frank

I use and love Rhynowet Red and wouldn't trade it for anything. In my experience it cuts more aggressively and for longer than Silicon Carbide paper. With that said, because it cuts more aggressively, the scratch pattern can look rougher than it actually is. Keep some Silicon Carbide paper of your finish grit around to soften the final scratch pattern a bit and you'll be in business.

I'm another happy user. Another advantage is that you can also use it on light colored
handle material without staining the handle.

I don't Frank, yet. I've heard so much good about it that it is first on my US shopping list. I haven't found any this side of the border.

Frank, four years ago, I bought some for my 9" disc after getting a recommendation from Burt Foster.

Out of curiosity, I took some of the cut-offs and tried them on a blade--- I have since filled all of my sand-paper drawers with it (from 320 to 2500).

I am, however, a bit hesitant to recommend it. I was all excited about it, and even sent some out to other makers to try. Some of the makers said they liked the cheap price, but didn't think the paper was that great. That really surprised me because I have tried all the fancy papers, and I really like Rhynowet. I don't use it just because it's cheaper (but that's certainly a very nice bonus).

But since a couple other very established makers felt it was more of a cheap alternative rather than a high quality alternative, I hesitate to gush about it. :)

I've not used it yet, but I'm curious where people are buying it because I don't see a big price difference between this and the Klingspor paper I buy.

Supergrit is the only place I know to get it. Haven't checked in detail but tend to agree that it's not noticeably cheaper than the Klingspor I used before.

Yeah, that's the only place I knew of. It's about the same cost for higher grits, a few bucks less for lower grits. I'm planning to give some a try just to see if it works better.

I have it in grits from 280 all the way through 2500. It gets used for everything. My sanding time was shortened considerably when I started using it. I have no plans to change paper any time soon. I think Deker summed up how it cuts.

I buy from Supergrit, too.

Thanks all. I've tried one supplier who told me they don't ship to Canada. I will try conacting Supergrit. Frank

The folks at Supergrit are great. I'm lucky that I like 20 minutes from them ;) If you have real trouble Frank let me know, I may be able to pick up what you need and ship it to you.

Thanks again all and Deker especially for offering to mail !!! Yes, Laura, at Supergrit was most helpful. Sandpaper prices in Canada are horrific with a 60 grit ceramic belt costing $3-$4 more per belt and sheets that are 50cents more each. I have always bought most of my belts from suppliers in the USA and decided I would now go to getting the sheets there too.I never have experienced problems with shipping and on the belts the suppliers are good enough to put together orders with just one or two of this size and that size. Frank

I just started using it and so far i like it too. I was previously using Mirka wpf and to me they seem about equal when using it on the disc, but when hand sanding i think the Mirka held up a little bit longer.
