Do you use your Buck 110 custom?

Just received a Buck custom to celebrate my retirement from the State of Illinois after 32 years of hard work. I got a Cherrywood, Nickel silver S30v with finger grooves, had it engraved with my initials and 2010. I want to use it. It was not overly costly, $103.00 for me that is fairly inexpensive compared to many of my other knives. Do you use your Buck custom?

I don't carry one from the Custom Shop, but I would.

I took an older LE damascus/stag with me to OEF and daily carry a 110 that Eric at Ark knives put dark maple scales on and dropped in a 486 blade.

I have others that I don't carry. Really all depends on the person and the knife. Some I like as a daily reminder of things and others are too precious for me to carry (I retired the one I took to OEF for that reason).

I used to be scared to carry some of my knives( in excess of $200) but I decided that I shouldnt buy them unless I intend to use them. Im gonna be ordering a buck 110 custom soon, and when I get I will carry it.

I do use mine.

Coincidently, I just got a new Buck 110 custom via UPS today. My new one is NSFG fiji wood with s30v. It will be a user as well.

Hi Jeff,

I have a few CS knives that are for lookin at and had them made for that. I also have one that I had made for useing, KOA with BG-42.

While I don't have a BUCK custom, I made a decision a while back to carry my knives that were getting special treatment. They aren't valuable enough to be collector's pieces, and I find that if I use them, I enjoy them every time I pull them out to do so.

Who else would enjoy them as much as me? While they may represent something special to me, or a keepsake for one reason or another, that aspect of the knife is no more than a novelty to someone else.

So if it is a nice knife, I am going to use it and enjoy it NOW. Since I know I will never sell them, there just isn't any reason to preserve them.

Use it. Since it is engraved, it is most likely more valuable to you alone. If you tired to sell it, it would likely fetch less than what you paid...since it is engraved. There is much more value in the satisfaction of using it, and carrying it daily then putting in a drawer. Use it with pride.

I got my first custom in November - 110 w/S30V blade expecting it to be my new hunting knife. But then I got in on the 154CM 110 web special and like that one so much as a user, especially for the price, that I'm going to wuss out on using the CS 110. That will be my first knife ever that I don't use.

I use mine!

I use/carry mine, albeit not as frequently these days. A $27 WallyWorld 110 in 420HC comes sharp, looks great, and goes a long way between sharpenings - a hard act to follow.

I have bought 'dedicated users' - like my most recent, an S30V blade in a royal blue Dymondwood scaled and ns bolstered - for $86 shipped from Buck's Custom Shop. Too pretty to EDC - it's on a display stand now! It has been carried, of course - and opened some Christmas presents. I did get my older son his own G10/Micarta/NS/BG-42 CS 'special' 110 a few falls ago. He announced his dislike for the 110, if you can imagine such, so I kept it as a 'user'. Sadly, both of them look the same now. Use 'em!

My gun safe contains no 'safe queens', either. Sorry, son(s), you'll inherit used knives & guns!

I won't own a gun, knife or car that doesn't get used. If I wanted something valuable to keep in a safe, I'd buy gold.

Absolutely my thoughts on the matter!!! Use it especially since its engraved.

My current EDC Custom/LE 110 (its sitting on my end table next to my car keys right now). It's a really nice 110 but damn I think I deserve to use my nice stuff even if it means it gets scuffed up a bit:

Some I do and some I don't. The fancy scaled ones that cost a bunch may get carried but not if I really expect to use them for anything more that opening mail or an occasional cardboard box. I have other customs that are more plain jane and they do get used.

DUC...dress up carry...If you don't want to beat it up I think it's great way to enjoy [and use!] a special Buck you have..I think most of us here have a handful we put in rotation.
