If you do, please post some pictures of your used Damascus knives! I'm curious to see how well the patterns hold up.

3.5-4 years as a constant EDC:

Telling my partner where we found the cattle. We both wear our damascus knives cross draw horizontal:

Our knives get used. My daughter is cutting a calf here, I can tell its her as most of my cowboys don't wear red finger nail polish:

Ya know what she's holding up:

Anyhoo I've never found it to be a real problem. I find they age kinda gracefully kinda like holster wear on a blued gun.

When I bought this little Mercury from Dawson Knives in July, the Cerakote set off the pattern in stark relief:

After over a month of heavy use (and a little help from a blue Scotchbrite pad to keep it even), it now looks like this:

It's on my hip most days. The Cerakote is completely gone except for a bit around the ricasso. At first the pattern was near invisible, but now that a patina is forming, the Damascus pattern is coming back into view. The "Dawson Select" etching still shows up if you hold it at the correct angle, but it didn't show up here. And yes, that is the same knife as the Dawson showroom pic at the top. The desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) changes color in different light. Here in the kitchen under direct sun (and outdoors) it's greenish. At dusk it starts to look brown. Under artificial light it goes tan. (Sadly, it doesn't glow when orcs and goblins are around ;))

(The Double E is not original to the sheath. That's our company brand I burned into it.)

If you have a damacus blade, LB, use it!

New meaning to "turd cutter"

I hope that's not how CM tests the knives he makes. I really planned on having him make one for me, but :poop: cutting??? :( We already know his knives are tough, maybe he is demonstrating that they will cut ANYTHING!
