Do You Wear Jeans? Great Knife for Change Pocket

I recently bought a Camillus EDC frame lock folder which is a Darrel Ralph design. It is a smaller than I generally like my folders however it is a perfect fit for clipping it to the little change pocket on the right side of my blue jeans.

Carrying it in this location is very convenient because it is readily available yet it doesn't intrude on my regular pocket so it doesn't get in the way when I'm reaching for my keys etc. The little change pocket has always been an extraneous addition to my jeans in the past as I never had a use for it and for me it was too small for accessing change anyway. Now I have the perfect thing to fit in this pocket and make it useful.

The Camillus EDC is a very nice little knife with good quality fit and finish. The one I got utilizes a very sharp recurve blade made of 154CM stainless steel however it is also available with a Talonite blade.

The cutouts in the handles and clip give it the appearance of a custom knife for a fraction of the cost. The handles also are beveled on all edges making it fit comfortably in the hand while also allowing for snag free comfortable carry.

If you aren't utilizeing your little change pocket this might be a good fit for you too. Anybody carrying a different knife in this pocket?

actually I always carry my knife in the change pocket. It collects ALOT less lint than the regular pocket and also makes it easy to quickly locate as well as allowing me access to my wallet.

Knives to date that I have carried there:
CRKT m-16 (a bit big, sticks out some)
Spyderco Native (perfect fit)
Kershaw Chive (gets lost in the pocket if I don't clip it to the side)
Spyderco Calypso Jr.(perfect fit)

These all fit pretty well and collect alot less lint(almost none).

I carry my SOG CrossCut (in its' vinyl sheath) and a Photon II, in my Levis 550 watch-pocket, so I don't have room for a "knife" there. (Besides, my Cold Steel Vaquero Grande WON'T fit in that little pocket!.:D.).

This Leek carries quite nicely there as well.

I've carried a Kershaw Rainbow Leek, an Al Mar SLB, and a Microtech Kestrel in there at different times.:)

If I carry my CRKT M16-03Z in the change pocket. The flipper just sticks out (I even took off the clip) and it's easy to grab and to me it's still absolutely secure enough in the (tight) pocket. It kinda works like a sheath.

It's nice to know I can carry something other that my Chive in my watch pocket. I'll have to try my Rainbow Leek! I wish they would have rainbowed the clip.

Short Cut mentions the cutouts in the handle of the Cuda in the picture. They are a particular reason why I would NOT want that knife. I view them as simply more parts of a knife to collect grit, lint, and eventually rust. Rust just loves surface area, and what better way to add surface area than by drilling holes? Unless some serious custom work is done to a knife, I figure that the inner surfaces of holes are where the worst metal-working has been done, i.e. those surfaces usually don't even seem finished at all. Check out the thumbholes of your Spyderco clipits for an example. Hardly machine-smooth. (Some of mine seem to have a groove that runs around the circle on the inside, creating a beveled effect.) Now, do you want these all over your knife?

This may be an issue in more humid climates but I've never had a problem with my SS knives rusting here in CA. Something that I have that really comes in handy is a bottle of compressed nitrogen in my garage. It only cost $25 at the local welding suppy store. Among other things I use it for blowing the lint out of my knives. The nitrogen will last a year if I remember to always turn the valve off when I'm done with filling tires or whatever. An additional benefit is that compressed nitrogen, unlike compressed air from a compressor, is dry.

Yea i always carry my spyderco worker in that pocket. Before i got the worker it was a wegner jr. Below the "change" pocket i carry a BM afck and a ut6 or commander in my rear right. I carry 3 knives but most people only see the afck clip sticking out.

Carry a knife clipped on the inside of my right front and left front Levi's pockets most of the time and sometimes a 3rd clipped on the inside of my right back pocket. Wallet goes in left back pocket.
The watch pocket or some like to refer to it as a change pocket, I carry a Listerine Cool Mint PocketPak in there! :)

My watch pocket is frequently habitated by a BM Levitator, a CrossGrip, or a CS Tuff Lite.

I actually tried that with my edc when they first came out. I still prefer mine in my big pocket though, more security.

The cutout look of the EDC is one of my favorite things about it! Not only does it save a bunch of weight, it just looks cool. I wouldn't worry about getting stuff in there. That material is 420 stainless, just about as rustproof as a steel can get. I've rinsed mine in water and forgotten about it, still can't rust it up.

Never wear jeans though, but if I start, I'll try that pocket.
