Does anyone have experience with these. I would love to get a bench top model but there are none within driving distance and they either won't ship to Canada or it costs as much as the unit, itself. These models kept popping up in my searches and now I'm getting desperate.

Rick, have you tried KBC? Shipping would not be cheap of course but maybe a couple hundred $, not as much at the unit I think.

I have one. If I am hoping for RC 60 I will take about 5 to 6 readings and average them. It never fails that 1 reading reads something ridiculous like 30 but that is probably user error. Mine did come with the test blocks too so I check it on those before I use it every time.

Also some of their models don't check Rockwell c scale I think. It looks like that one does but I would double check before purchasing.

Wow, mine isn't like that at all. I get the odd 30 result once in a while too, but mostly on differential hardened blades.

I found a Wilson Rockwell 3JR tester with a broken break lever. They say it still works but I don't see how.

Is it as easy to fix as it looks?

I found a decent price on a used PTC 415C tester on ebay years ago. It's been going strong since.

Any suggestions on where to find a diamond penetrator for an older Ames handheld unit? Ames wants $425 for one . . .
