Thought I'd share the 'Before' and 'After' photos...
The Eggerling damascus:
First the initial drawing:
Mastodon ivory choices:
This morning the guy in blue arrived; presenting CB50 !!!!
Blade: 4"
OAL 9"
Steel
Blade: Eggerling Spotted Star damascus
Handles: Eggerling Turkish Twist damascus
Clip: Eggerling Braided damascus
Inset: Mastodon Ivory
WOW... what a knife! Three different types of damascus (all from Mr. Eggerling), skeleton and inset handles (a first?); balance and action like no other. And of course an integral latch gate and a pocket clip for the *ultimate* carry. It is obvious that M. Dobruski's skill at making balis is improving with every piece! The blade grind is flawless (a fact that seems to more and more rare these days of CNC) and fit and finish is as fine as can be found. The holes are just barely countersunk and very well done. It is hard to imagine a finer knife!
Please note that there are two different finishes on the damascus! To be honest I was slightly concerned with the knife, having all damascus, would turn out a touch 'confused'. Even though I never shared this concern with M. Dobruski, he took the initiative (after consulting with his brother, who is a gun repair and embellisher) to finish the blade with a standard etch and the handle with a subtle gun-type blued etch. The results are obvious. I would like to thank M. Dobruski for this amazing balisong, and to Mauro Machado for his patience in this transaction. If you're not in line for a Dobruski you're making a big mistake.
Here are some more pics (courtesy of Mauro Machado);
