I traded into a Microtech DOC, and have some things to pass along about it for those unfamiliar with it. I would also like to ask that people who have either pairing of DOC & Strider SnG or Strider SMF & SnG help me with perspective. Specifically, I am curious to see picture comparisons showing size differential, and to hear from owners about the feel of the SnG in hand compared to the larger siblings.

This knife is the definition of ridiculous. It's heavy, humongous, impractical, and the styling is unbelievably busy. Somehow, the combination of Strider silhouette and flipper overpower all of that and have made me lust after one.

Getting this knife in hand, I am all at once pleased, disappointed, and hopeful.

- I love the ergonomics (ASTERISK!!!)

- gripping it with the forward choil actually allows a strong and controlled hold for work. While it's not ideal, it's passable for a variety of tasks.

- here's the asterisk: the one I traded into has the first gen pocket clip. It absolutely lives up to its terrible reputation. It's one of two design decisions that make no sense.

- the other senseless design choice: some of these have a bead blast finish. What. The. Hell. This thing had light spotting on S30V when I got it. Why would bead blast be an option on a knife like this?!

Why am I hopeful and actually happy overall?

- I didn't trade out of anything I was using.

- I satisfied a curiosity that has been nagging at me since 2013.

- if I can find a way to take care of the pocket clip, it becomes a dream in hand.

- if I can get the blade reground flat (instead of nightmare), and stonewashed... Whoa.

This experience has me even more curious about an SnG. A smaller version of this, obviously lacking this pocket clip, and with better blade finish, sounds amazing.

I would greatly appreciate comments relating the DOC/SMF size to the SnG from the perspective of people who have handled each. Is the SnG really as great in hand and in use as I hope it is?
