Well, I've bought her 1/2 year ago, loved'er, used her, a little abused (once opened a canned fish, blade still as new). Recently found a nick next to pivot. What do you think - is it just a scratch (machining flaw, my fault) or a crack (no!no! we losing her!)?
Here's the closeup:

It's hard to determine just by looking on the picture. Toolmarks are not deep and probably not dangerous. If it is crack, than blade can fail with time. I looked at my Endura and I saw couple very shallow toolmarks at the same area. May be you can show this knife to somebody who is in machining metal business? They should be able to determine.
Coog luck. Vse budet horosho.

Thanks for the kind words, guys! Spasibo na dobrom slove!
Just today got a reply from Spyderco's customer service (it took them 6 days, though)
"It looks fine to me, but it can be hard to tell with a picture."
Now I'm relieved.

Those are remarkable pictures, what kind of lens did you use? And to stay on topic, did you send the knife itself in, or just pictures?

The picture was taken by my friend with his Canon 350d+tamron28-75/2.8 (whatewer it is)
You see, I'm too far avay from Colorado, so I just sent'em a picture..

Looks like a scratch. Not likely to crack there, at that place, but you never know. I have a bout 30 spydies, and only one gave me a problem, it was a NIB standard, and the lockbar cracked under very light usage. The rest have been holding up fine so far.

Just send it back if you're unsure of it.

Doesn't look like a scratch or a crack to me, it just looks like a small manufacturing defect. I wouldn't worry about it.

Looks like a crack to me. If it were a scratch, it should eventually disappear because of the normal wear caused by opening and closing the blade. The lockback is putting pressure there as the blade pivots. The picture seems to show depth which would indicate a crack. My thoughts only!
