I am thinking of picking up a nice Doctor Pattern knife. I have kind of been appointed to be working as a Pharmacy Tech lately, and thin that it might serve me well. Or at the very least it would be of some interest to me. I do have a few requirments though.

1) It needs to have a spatula, great for counting those pills
2) I would prefer a carbon steel, but if nor then a good stainless will do
3) Nice looking, preferably natural scale material
4) Good quality maker

I also don't want to get killed on the price either. This is really justa temporary thing until I finish school and get my degree in computer science, and get a job in that field. I am guessing/hoping that I should be able to find something decent for under $100.

Thanks for any ideas.

Carbon might react quickly to drug chemicals, so I would consider stainless.
Case has a few with spatulas as does Schatt&Morgan. (Both should run around 50 or so (give or take 10) if you look around and/or try ebay.)

How about this beauty?.......Very nice, from Queen.
I borrowed the photo from Cumberland, by the way....not affiliated, but Bill Horn is a good guy to work with.

Those are very nice with the checkered Perl.
You should be able to find them still at around 55 to 65.

(Forgot about them, since the regular line of Queens do not have spatulas.)

Great suggestion El Lobo.

I wouldn't worry about it being used with actual drugs. I most likely wouldn't be acutally using it, number one reason being there are plenty lying around anyway. This is more of an excuse to just buy myself another traditional type knife.

I really like the MOP version, so I might look for one of them. I know SMKW has them, but for around $100 seems a bit much. I would also not mind something with some nice stag, but that is also expensive.

I know when I picked up one of the Queen checkered pearl's on ebay it ran me about 60 bucks.

The S&M Pearl DR.s use a higher grade of Pearl and I would expect to pay 70 to 100 for them. I used to sell the first Issue S&M in Perls when I dealt and wholesale on them was around 70 bucks.

Keep looking, I still think you can find nice Bone S&M's for around 50 or 60.

I've been looking at a Doctor's Knife too. The trouble is most don't have the spatula blade. Queen has some nice-looking models...

Queen currently makes the doctors with spear and spatula bade in three versions - mother of pearl, cocobolo, and carved stag bone, all in 420HC. You should be able to get the bone or wood at $44-$48 each and the pearl for $60-$70.
