I am trying to create a poll, but I may not know how to.
I wondered how many folks here choose to only buy when all documentation is present.
The poll I was trying to create:

I only buy new from CRKs or CRKs dealers
When I buy used, all documentation is a must
When I buy used, documentation is preferred
When I buy used, and there is no documentation I will still buy if I want it badly
No documents no deal.

I fall into this category: When I buy used, and there is no documentation I will still buy if I want it badly.

I prefer used CRKs to include box, cloth, tool, bday card etc, but it's not a must.
If I want the blade bad enough and the price is right then I pull the trigger regardless.

While I'd definitely prefer documentation, it's not a deal breaker if the price is right and the seller is reputable.

For me personally, it really depends on the totality of the circumstances... if it's your regular easy to find CRK, unless it's absolutely dirt cheap and in mint condition, having no documentation is a deal breaker.

If it's a rare one, but I think there's a chance I might sell it in the future, documentation is a must unless once again... it's dirt cheap.

If it's rare and I don't think there is a chance in hell I'll ever sell it.... documentation is not as much of a factor because the main reason why I really want the documentation is to preserve resale value.

I prefer to buy from CRK or their authorized dealers though I suppose my stance could change.

can't afford one- spent all my money on flashlights.......although not nearly as fast as you did...lol. Have you moved on to blades from lights?

I prefer the birthcard & box when I buy, because the knife has better value with them(tool no big deal, you can get them at any hardware store). It does not stop me from buying the knife if it doesn't have them, but I do factor it into the price. It is only for resale that it would matter at all. They are the only knives I know of(except maybe Scott Cooks) that come with these type of papers, and it has become the norm to trade them with the papers.

I for one only own two flashlights. I think that is probably sufficient and I don't think my CRK addiction compares to my need for emergency lighting, thankfully.

I've only got one for now...(small sebenza 21) but I wanted it to be a complete package. When I'll get some more I might not be as picky.

I only buy new from CRKs or CRKs dealers- A: Yes
When I buy used, all documentation is a must- A: Yes
When I buy used, documentation is preferred- A: Yes
When I buy used, and there is no documentation I will still buy if I want it badly- A: Yes
No documents no deal- A: Depends

I fall under all of the above.

Preferred. One thing you didn't directly address is any $ premium for correct documentation. That can be significant for highly collectable pieces.

Preferred, but for the right blade from the right sellers at the right moment, I don't mind picking up used one without documents. As a lefty, I don't have much of luxury. If my heart tells me to get it, I'll get it. :D

Thank you all for participating.....I now realize that it wasn't a well designed poll...hope to get better at them as time goes by. I do, however, enjoy seeing the data come in and your replies.

No documentation no deal for me unless I really know the seller. I am just to far away from the States to take any chances really.
