I got my hands on fine piece of leather which i think is shoulders (please correct me if I am wrong) It wasnt so big piece so I managed to cut for two folding knife sheats. It was thickiest leather I'd ever worked with and could not wait to see finished sheat. At the end as you can see I've made mistake but I tryed to make it right so here is the result

One of the best saddle makers in the country recently told me "Leather isn't about doing things perfectly. It's about being good enough to cover your mistakes." There's a lot of truth to that. Good save! Keep up the nice work!

I hate it when the stitch groover jumps out from where it is supposed to be going!

Side question about the pro groovers, with the actual groover in the center and the guide off to the side. Are they easier to control than the economy version?

somewhat. The guide is actually parallel with the groove blade but since it's 'shaft' is actually square, you can turn it 90* and lock it in place - PROVIDED - the piece you're grooving is elevated enough off the bench so that you don't get any interference with bumps, dings or things stuck to or cluttering the bench top.

If you use it in the parallel position, you have to angle it slightly toward the edge so that the guide rides lower than the surface you are carving on...meaning...if you are carving the right side of the piece, the guide sticks off the right side and you need to rotate it slightly clockwise so the guide rids a little low on the piece. I know...I make no sense at all....sorry. And I always get a 'jumper' when I do it this way....never freaking fails. I've opted to elevate my work piece and turn the guide to 90*. Just make your elevation block a sturdy one that doesn't move...like a 12" x 12" block of granite or something.

Thank you guys, I didnt now there's a word for it (save). I had enough of that leather for belt so ...
