Hi,

yes, that is the question. These two caugt my eye. I have got the Police stainless already for about 8 years and it was my only Spiderco. I experienced a little blade side travel on it and it was impossible to tighten it.

I would like a strong knife with good grip for everyday use. Prefere plain edge for cutting wood and sometimes paper.

Which one you guys can recommend and why? How do both feel in hand when cutting some branch? I would expect Dodo is easier to cut with because of curved edge and I do not need to pierce a lot. Seems Dodo would be a winner but I like the shape of Yojimbo too and wonder how the Dodo will perform in more subtle work, little carving for example.

Thank you for your comments.

Not knowing anything about carving, I don't know how the Dodo would work. It's blade shape is such that the point is not really intended for fine work. It is the sharpest knife I've ever owned and the handle is super comfortable. Of the two knives the Dodo seems more usable as both a self defense knife and a working knife. The Yojimbo strikes me as being pretty purpose-built.

The Dodo is a great, everyday utility knife. I find that the only thing it doesn't excel at is slicing (that's what a Lum is for :) ). I use the tip of mine for very detailed cutting of plastic, paper, even thin wood. I think it would be limited in it's use for detailed carving work, at least more limiting than the Yojimbo. That's why you need an S30 Native as well as the Dodo and the Yo.

Thank you all for the replays.

I must say I was affraid someone said "buy both" :)

My budget is tight so I think I would go with Dodo and wait for the others.
