i have just revieved throught the post less than an hour ago a blue plainedge spyderco dodo and i have to say that it is the nicest knife i own. it is amazingly well made and i love the ballbearing lock as it is superbly smooth and the lock up is solid plus it is a completley different system to most peoples lockbacks or liners. i have to say on friday (my next pay day) i am going to order another just as a spare incase something happens to this one. no knife has ever warranted me to buy 2 of the same before thats how good it is.
the g10 has a very grippy texture to it and along with the handle shape makes for one of the most comfortable grips i have ever seen on a folder, the bb lock is a work of art and the best thing is even though it was perfectly designed in the dark, because it is such a strange and different looking knife, well thats what makes it a beautiful work of art. :D

A lot of people really love that knife. Get them while you can. I here that they are discontinuing them if they are not discontinued already.

They were discontinued.

I admit that it is the nicest little knife I own, well deserving of its "cult" status IMO. The handle and the lock make the little guy IMO.

Perhaps a Dodo II will emerge, with a more "acceptable" blade profile to warrant continued production. Well, we can hope anyway.

I hope not, a more "acceptable" blade shape would take away from it's ability to cut. Anything other than a Hawkbill or Wharncliffe would be too difficult to use in that small size.

The dodo is long discontinued and the models are rapidly drying up, at least, at the online stores I look at.

It's an irreplaceable tool. I've bought maybe 10 different types of spydercos, half of which were high end, and the dodo is the nicest of all of these fit and finish wise.

It's a real loss....when another great knife dies, there are usually two others that perform that function similarly well..not so with the dodo...one of a kind.

I like my Dodo. That said, I think I would like it more if it had a Hawkbill blade.

It's an odd first post for sure.

I just ordered a Dodo today (blue serrated edge). I knew I'd want one at some point, and they look to be drying up pretty quickly. I may be going from no Spydercos to several Spydies in a matter of days, heh.

I was thinking that a Wharncliffe, or a modified version of same, would perhaps be more acceptable to the general public (despite my dislike for the profile in general). A bit of recurve or belly would be nice, if a modified Wharncliffe were utilized.
